IFS Toy SAS

Got a buddy with a 99 v6 toy truck. he's thinking about doing an SAS this summer. who are the best vendors to look at? he's running 33" and doesnt want it lifted too much more. should he put a toy axle in it or a d44? any advice you toy guys have would be cool.

Tell him to register on TTORA, there's a newish SAS folder there with a lot of good info. SAS's on the Tacomas are becomming more common place every day.

Toy or d44 is all in personal preference, but I would go Toy, just to keep it all metric. If he wants to use leaf springs, just about every toy related vendor out there now makes a SAS kit for the Tacoma. FROR and Sky Mfg. both come to mind. All-Pro and someone else make 3-link front kits, but they're designed around the use of their housing.

The Tacoma section on Pirate is starting to have some good tech too.

in the older toys, they cool kids move the rear springs up front and get 56"(or other) chevy springs for the rear.

but that might be pointless useless since we are talking about a taco. your welcome.

Why is he SAS'ing? If he doesn't want lift, and he only wants to run 33's, why hack up a perfectly good truck (assuming it is perfectly good)?

Rears up front and 63" chevys out back if you can handle the length. Both can be made to give 2-3" of lift. Which, with fender hacking and firewall tubing can fit 35" tires with little up-travel.

how much trouble is that rear swap? wouldnt be opposed to doing that.

shouldn't be very hard. I used rears up front on my 4runner. The hardest part is locating the shackle in the rear and mounting up a new steering box since the taco is rack and pinion I think. But when he says rears up front, I think he means rears from a 2nd or 3rd gen toyota since all the taco springs I seen were damn near inverted in stock form and most likely useless. As for the chevys in the rear, don't let him do that. Those damn things are way to ****ing long. I think some F150 or ranger springs would flex just as well or better, and not completely kill the departure angle

Just use a set of chevy 52"s or 56"s. Cheap and easy to find....
