Came up with this thing today. Had to get some rust and dirt out of the bottom of my lawn mower gas tank. The way John Deere designed the tank, you can't just turn the tank over cause of the way the tank is made the crud just gets stuck. I tried sucking it out with the fuel pump w/ filter by itself, but the crud just plugged the line at the filter. So I made this over complicated device out of a water bottle, electric fuel pump w/ filter, 3/8" fuel line, ford 8.8 axle shaft, a zip-loc bag, and lots of duct tape.:D
The idea was to suck the fuel through the water bottle. The crud would fall to the bottom of the bottle, and the "clean" fuel would be sucked out of the bottle into the drain pan. It took a little work to get primed, but worked nicely!
