In the spirit of impluse buys i got another project. I relaised that i didnt' have the time to do what i wanted to do to the cj till after college so i bought a new project that was much more complete.
1987 gmc jimmy
2.8 efiv6, auto, 231
no axles when i bought it but now have a waggy 44 converted to 8 lug with 4.10 gears
c&c 14 bolt, disc brakes, welded soa
36x1250 bias swampers on steelies
ac works and it runs ok

still lots of little things but 85% of the hard work is done

here is a side shot

also my step sister gave me an amp sub and box, i have a set of 6x9's that i got and some 5.25's. all i need is a head unit and i have a prety decent stereo in the jimmy

i also called it a s25 b/c it is a s15 with 3/4 ton axles under it. i thought it fit.

finally got some progress done in the last few days. narrowed a chevy d44 4" using a waggy long side shaft and 8 lug outers. it is now jeep cj spring perch width and 65" wms. redid the amazingly ****ty welds that the po did when he tried to do a sas and made it work with the new spring perch width. now i feel safer. i only got the front mount done and still need to get the rear moved in to match the front but it sits on all 4's again. i the approach angle is amazing but now i need to start on the t-case issue.
I'm going to swap out the 231 for a 241 (sitting in the back of the jimmy) which is pass drop to match the chevy axle. once i get some more garage room and a few more bucks i am going to do a 231 300 doubler. i already have the t-cases but i still need the adapter.
more to come later and hopefully by wed it will be driving under its own power for the first time in years

no, sorry i'm prety sure i'm gonna need the gearing of the doubler with only 4.10 in the axle and 2.7 low range with an auto and a wimpy 2.8v6 pushing the 36's

A 231 or 241 that will mate to a TH350

you will have to get and aftermarket adapter. you need the round 6 pattern. it would bolt up to a 700r4 or even a 4l60 but not a 350 or 400

well i started to tear into the tranny and t-case and found out the the t-case is a 207 not a 231 like i thought so i am going to sell the drivetrain and out in the th350 that i have along with the 203/300 doubler that i ordered the adapter for this morning. i have a core vortec 350 that i'm either going to rebuild or stroke. haven't decided yet. i may have it done for katemcy. we will see. unless anyone knows where a running 4.3 or 350 complete with everything but ac comnpressor is then it may be quicker

5.3 th350 doubler would work nicely
