One Jeep, one Tahoe, one car hauler, 3-4 dudes (flem's on the fence), an Australian Shepard, and 820 miles. I can't think of a better way to spend a weekend!

We're going to retrieve what's left of Brettholomew's Jeep from Corpus Crusty next weekend, and thought some of you locals from there might like to join in the fun. Driving down Friday after work, loading the jeep up Saturday, taking in all the fun Corpus has to offer that evening, then driving back Sunday. Boomerang trip no doubt. I think Brett's buddy Adam is in, and that almost makes it worth it by himself. I might get to meet the fabled "TXBLAKE" or get to find out WTF "WFO Off-Road" is. I bet I eat some dirty messican breakfast tacos at some point.

This is going on, but the tix are $30, I'm probably out.

Executive Surf Club has a classic rock cover band playing, might be fun.

ESC wouldn't be bad, but I haven't ever heard of the bands that are playing. We sure can check out some Executive burgers if you guys are game though...

TJ is being brought up here to live closer to me.

Made it to my parents house just before 2AM, visited with Mom for a few minutes while the dogs ran around. Showed Jimmy to one bedroom, stopped at the computer after I took a piss for an update, going to the other room to sleep. Getting up at 7ish tomorrow to head out and load up the Jeep before it gets too hot/humid. Korpus Krusty here we come, just need to get the storage unit cleared out and then it's time for coastal city pwnership to commence. Got 15mpg on the way down with an empty trailer, not bad since I usually get 16-17 making the same trip...we'll see how it does with a load and a tailwind on Sunday.

I'm tired. Just got home and unloaded the Tahoe. Jeep is on the trailer at the Brune's shop for the night, don't want to touch it in the dark. Jimmy has pictures. Whole trip happened in about 50 hrs, don't know total distance but the only casualties were a couple cases of Keystone and a mystery check engine light.

pictures.

Jeep in storage unit, jeep on trailer, Brett's buddy's Adam's new "Cheesy" tattoo, Adam and I went nuts with the yellow paint, Brett had to stand on the top of the jeep and retrieve the aluminum shelves he thought it would be a good idea to throw up on top of the building, think that's about it for pics.

Nah, you see how I lined them up? It'll fit... :flipoff2:

I have a Chevy NP205 that needs to get set up as a doubler so that axle should work. :)

bburris
07-23-2008, 08:50 PM
Yes, a Cadillac 500 is now a possibility if I continue to pursue the stupid big engine idea but the Brothers Brune are doing their best to talk me into a 5.3

bburris

Look through the grill. If you can see the transmission tunnel that means the 2.5L went to the scrapyard three years ago. :flipoff2:

Time to move to the build thread.

is the one on the right yours too? if so i assume you just rented another garage @ your apts? i'm guessing they're detached garages

bburris
07-23-2008, 10:29 PM
On the right is attached, the walk-through door to the one on the left is about 6-ft away on the same wall as my front door. I thought about getting the one to the right of my garage but this one turned out to be almost two feet wider. I wish I could figure out whether the wall between them is structural... :D

You could make a pass thru very easily...sawzall, circular saw, bottle jack, nail gun, 8' 2x12 (for 4' opening) piece of 7/16 OSB to laminate in between, a handful of studs to build a temp wall, a 30 pk of stones and a saturday. if you want to get fancy a couple of pcs of drywall, tape and some mud.
