My girlfriend's dad has an early 90s F-350 4x4 with no engine. The tranny is a rebuilt auto, and the body is straight.

Asking $1500 for the whole thing.

Can get pictures.

I was thinking it was a 90-92ish. Doesn't that truck have the ball joint D60? if it does that price is probably too high for me.

william_ace
10-30-2008, 10:13 AM
yes travis, balljoint 60

hmmm - $1500?
you coud probable get $500 in steel from that thing after taking the axles and rear bumper off.

As long as you could sell the axles for $1000, the tranny for a few hundred, you should come out ahead depending on Diesel to pick it up and transport.

If you take the time to sell the doors, bumpers, tires/wheels, transmission, etc, profit margin should come up.

I wouldn't mind having a D60 to play with in the garage but don't want to take the tire to part this thing out. Tempting though...

redcagepatrol

yes travis, balljoint 60

high pinion?

JB
10-30-2008, 12:36 PM
Ask Tate, I remember when he dismantled one a few years back in the driveway of the house on Raintree. Almost the exact truck. The axle is a balljoint dana 60 high pinion, exactly like what I swapped in Bronco.

BroncoJo

I would be lucky If I could get 500 for a ball joint 60 and scrap is almost nothing.

chadnuts-
I would like to get this (to wheel) but not at that price, let me know if it doesn't sell.

apparently you've never taken a parted out fullsize F250 / F350 to the salvage yard.
The last one I took fetched me $260 without any drivetrain - and that was before the salvage prices went up.

Eckert
10-30-2008, 02:19 PM
scrap is rock bottom right now

I got $10.50/100 for the Mazda. It has gone back down now though, but I'm sure this thing weighs much more than my truck did.

Seth
10-30-2008, 06:35 PM
cans have been 73ish cents for a year or so, and they are now at 45. i guess everything else is about the same.

Sharpe
10-30-2008, 06:47 PM
I got $0.80 for cans when I cashed in ~$350 worth a few month ago down in Kingsville. The guy there told me the week before they had been up to $0.90!

jerryg79
10-30-2008, 07:00 PM
where does one get 400 lbs of can...wait did i see you on the side of the road on a bicycle...look'd like you had gotten quite a tan.

Sharpe
10-30-2008, 07:02 PM
Nah I just save em up at my shop until I cant stand the giant pile any more. Sometimes they have higher rates for over a certain weight.

DRAGOONRANCH
10-31-2008, 12:06 AM
are nos cans that much thicker than beer cans???

Sharpe
10-31-2008, 12:33 PM
No, believe me it was mostly beer. Enough so that I was somewhat embarrased. Can you imagine how big of an alcholic you like like cashing in 400 lbs of mostly beer cans? Everyone that was behind me was giving me dirty looks. Of course that could have been because it took me over an hour to unload and weigh all my cans :gigem:

DRAGOONRANCH
11-01-2008, 01:41 AM
For that kind of money, buy you a smallish trailer and put some cheap sides on it so you don't have to spend so much time loading and unloading. ;)

Sharpe
11-02-2008, 12:01 PM
I already have a jalopy trailer, the load of cans in question filled it and the bed of my truck above the roofline.

DRAGOONRANCH
11-02-2008, 12:12 PM
did you crush them?

Sharpe
11-02-2008, 02:32 PM
For the most part no. Too much effort.

DRAGOONRANCH
11-02-2008, 02:52 PM
you need to rig up a cheap air cylinder crusher, those things make for loads of fun. :D
