thats a long drive to shoot some guns...

i may be going to Hot Wells this weekend since my two new ARs are supposed to be here tomorrow... :gigem:

Not at the house in Hockley. The ranch has plenty of room though.

Have you been to Hot Wells before? Make sure you take a standard (milsurp) mag with you. The milsurp 30 rd I use already makes it pretty hard to see under their "safety wall"...I think anything longer like a pmag and you won't be able to see down range cause the mag will be resting on the bench.

If I get my gas block for my new AR in by then, I'll probably be down. Need to check the ol' deer rifle to make sure the 9000 mile trip back from africa with my mom didnt **** up its zero :gigem:

are you talking about gunsmoke? i will never go there to shoot a rifle again due to the asshole owner and his safety wall. i do shoot my pistol there since its closer than arrowhead.

you should make this sunday afternoon. ill be in houston on saturday taking a test but we have a USPSA match on sunday from 10am-3pm.

No, Hot Wells Shooting range in Cypress. I've seen a lot of places that have that safety wall so you can't aim high and shoot over the backstop, but there's is so low it makes shooting anything with a magazine difficult. I've seen a write up on cutting down a pmag to 10 round capacity...I'm gonna do this for a range mag.

yes i have been there and i know what you are talking about. i have 4 30rd PMags already and 2 20rd PMags coming. i think the 20rd will be sufficient.

i also got a bipod for the heavy barrel. i am not sure if it will fit under the wall or not...

theirs is almost too low to shoot a standard scoped rifle on sandbags.

i thought that writeup was to cut down a 30rd PMag and then block it to accept only 10. i dont think it cuts it down to 10rd length.

The one I saw was to cut down a 20 rd to 10 rd, but can be done to the 30 rd.

after re-reading it may actually be 12 round for the 30 round pmag, but that's fine.

ahhhh yes...

i still am more concerned with the bipod height more so than the height of the mag...

i think the 20 rounder is about the same as the grip and the advantage of the 10rd pmag is for commiefornia folks...

Yes, the 20 round will be fine. I already have the 30 round, and I don't really need more than 10 or 15 at a time at the range anyway. You won't be able to use the bipod. I've got the short Harris bipod and couldn't use it.

If I'm in town I would be interested. What are you wanting to shoot skeet, pistol, and rifle?

Hmm, I might even be game if it's sunday afternoon. Let's just say I have a whole lot of .22 subsonics and a pretty and very non-eventful backyard.

oh, and theres a rifle side match after the pistol match. im sure y'all could shoot in only that if you dont have a pistol. tactical style, doesnt always require more than one magazine.

Damn, new AR's barrel isnt broken in yet and old AR will probably suck to compete with. Fuggit, I'll do it anyway!

If I make it back to cs before the comp on sunday I will be down... I could hopefully bring the AR, my kimber, and shotgun.
