Well i'm not positive yet, but the tranny fluid is burnt to hell and it's shifting very strangely. This is the second raptor and has been in since late january or early feb. I've got the largest cooler that B&M makes and a temp gauge. The temp normally stays between 160-180, but on hot days in the summer it will be from 170-190 and occasionallly of to 200. Only once has it went past 200 and thats when i was in gilmer playing on the steep trails in 2 hi, but i caught it quick and let it cool of and then switched into 4 lo. Anyways, if this tranny is dead, i'm putting in a SM-465 and a NP-205 in over christmas. If anyone knows of this combo lying around cheap in a junkyard let me know. Also, are there years to avoid, or years that are better for either of these? Thanks - Doug

WTF? arent these supposed to be the best trannys money can buy? I know mr. oliver has been thru like 6 now...whats the deal? swap in a standard tranny, much cheaper to rebuild and can run w/ water (and mud) in the case. :D

Standards are cheap and easy like a Saigon whore, plus an SM465 is a direct bolt on swap with a good donor vehicle. I would get tired of shifting everyday, and really need the overdrive.

When the turbo goes on in a few months, and all 450+ lb ft from the mighty 6.2L blows this Raptor to hell, I'm using the refund $$$ for an Art-Carr. I might even get crazy and go with a manual valve body with one of those pimp gate shifters.

BTW: I'm only on my 5th Craptor. Get it right Austin!
