I actually just bought a new red top for the jeep tonight. I never had any issues with my old one, only reason I bought a new one is because Rodney and I swapped batterys in Clayton for my extraction.

I really wanted to get a couple the other day when before I figured out I had a short in the doooley as I really love the ones I have in the beast and have always had good luck with the red tops the military used to throw away. I may go ahead and take a chance on another set when I finally switch out in the dooley though but that may be a while now the short has been found.

FYI, you can get used optimas and all kinds of batteries at interstate. the one up here (the uge interstate WH on 121 by FW) had a bunch of brand new looking used red tops for $65 ea. even saw a couple of orbitals for sale. they are all charge and come w/ a 90 day free replacement. commercial batteries were $65 also. reg batteries were $35 ea. they sell them to used car lots. I'm guessing some of them just went dead sitting on the shelf or got discharged by owner. some had sams club stuff on them.
