Thinking about buying a house reminded me that moving the FJ without axles will bring the suck. Need some 79-85 pickup steering knuckles. Also looking for high steer arms. Let me know what you have.

edit: Got the knuckles...see last post.

I'm looking for some parts from the same vintage. 4x4 torsion bars and sway bar.Maybe some 2WD 4Runner spindles and rotors. I'll let you know if I find any knuckles.

Did you hit the j-yards yesterday? If not I may go next weekend. You're looking for 86+ torsion bars? I'll keep an eye out.

No. I was feeling pretty sick, so we didn't make it down. Probably soon (i.e. next weekend). Ours is an '85, so we need something that vintage. The next gens were longer. Torsion bars and sway bars. Thanks!

LKQ (pick a part) on Wallisville road has an 86 4runner. The ifs is pretty much all there including the torsion bars and front sway bar.

Sweet. 2WD or 4WD? I assume 4WD.

I have one steering knuckle. You can have it if you want it... Otherwise, I'm tossing it (why did I keep this crap???)

Three of the four holes are good, just have a broken stud in them...

I'll take it. Damn, that one is buggered isn't it?

Missed this earlier...it was 4wd.

Dave, did you make it out to LKQ for that sway bar? Happen to see any knuckles?:)

uglyota

scott that looks like a drivers side? BDR you still need the other one? I can check and see what I've got...

we went out to a bunch of places but didn't look for any knuckles. We found two of the required sway bars but I don't recall seeing any front axles (plenty rears).

Still looking for both.

This figures. I don't know how many times I've walked past a toyota pickup/4runner in the jyard and said "I'm not ready to buy knuckles yet.":(

I might go this saturday...with any luck I'll pass by some Dana 60s and say "oh, I don't want to run full widths yet."

redcagepatrol

We did actually see several front Dana 60's

uglyota
01-26-2009, 05:45 PM
so scott's not giving you that one? I know I have at least one that has one wallowed out stud hole like that, would be sweet if it was the other side so you could have a matching pair! :D

mudtoy67
01-26-2009, 06:31 PM
Yes he is. I was going to see if I could still find a pair of them without wallowed out studs.;)

you need all the rest of the knuckle crap or just empty knuckles? Are they even worth enough for me to box up and ship to you?

Busa

There may be a pair of them in Anderson left over for all out toyota stuff.

Mainly, I need the knuckles and the bottom caps. For now I'll need the steering arms too since I don't have high steer arms yet. I'm not sure if the knuckle bearings, shims, knuckle wipers are the same, but I figure those wouldn't be as hard to come by. From what I know everything else spindle out from my FJ should interchange.

Not sure if they would be worth shipping...I guess we'd have to see how much they weigh. Just throw them in a carry-on next time you come down. Scratch that...throw them in the back of the truck. I'll meet you Kremling.:gigem:

If you wouldn't mind checking for them when you get a chance that would be great! If they are there, how much do you think you would want for them?

I didn't see any solid fronts. Sorry.

there is a possibility that I might be in the area this weekend. Depends on DavidO / Brandon / Cody and building a cage for a race truck

It seems I only have one and no bottom caps or anything else...I will probably find the box with all that stuff when i build a shed. The one I have is the same side as the one Scott has, but it's not boogered up. Lemme know if you want it. Also i just found out that The Yota Yard is like a mile from my house. If you wanna work something out with them I can pick it up and send it to you

Well, got the knuckles, but still looking for a few items.

Lower kingpin caps and hardware (again 79-85 toyota pickup/FJ).
Steering arm hardware - cone washers, flat washers, nuts (hehe...nuts:laughing: )

Also keep an eye out for someone selling high steer arms.:D

If anyone sees a toy pickup in the junkyard that still has the knuckles on it let me know.

No, I was not aware of your bin of toyota crap. Guess I'll need to swing by and check it out.

I don't need a pitman...I'm using a scout box. Just need the arms.

There is a yard off of 43rd? between TC Jester and N. Shepard - across from the big scrap iron place C&D? that had a few. Then some at a few yards on N. Shepherd. All Toyo? I think?

I will probably. There haven't been many pop up for sale lately.

I kinda forgot about All Toyota, they probably have some but that place is always overpriced. I may try to hit some yards this weekend.

I'll look for you if you want. Or you can call the yota yard on Walnut and Yota Jim or Yota Parts or whatever the place is called on 40th (maybe? Yeah I know that's real detailed but the shop seems to have like 4 names and it's on a gravel road off of the real roads, but it's near york and 40th up here) and see if they are cheaper than what you can get, and I will grab the stuff and send them to you. Both should have lots of solid axle stuff, both mini and FJ-60
