View Full Version : TAMOR destroys all F-Series trucks from 1978 - 1996

I think everyone agrees that off roading is hard on vehicles, but there is one particular brand of vehicle TAMOR has chosen to eliminate more so than any other. Sure we have destroyed blazers, jeeps, toyotas, and scouts, but more than anything we have worked on taking the Ford F-series truck to the junk yard more than anyone.

Within this club we have destroyed every type, body style, etc.. of the F-series truck from 1978 to 1996. Here are some examples:

Jerry Goss - 1978 Bronco (while not to the junk yard it was towed away)
Kevin Doyle - 1978 Bronco "Big Nasty", He also currently has a 95' bronco, 2 78 Bronco's, and one 1980 something F-150, all of which I am sure will have a bad final chapter, additionally parted out some 1980 something F250
Tate - 1980 Ford Bronco, 1991 Ford F-350
Karl Crouch - 1982 F150
Mike Knoeller - 1986 Bronco
Brown - 1987ish bronco, while still running, it is far from a bronco.
Clarke - 1990 Bronco
Doug Krebs - 1990 F-350
Seth - 1994 F-150 (still kind of running)
Sparling - 1993 F-150
Travis - 1987 Ferd F-teenthousand with the help of Karl

And now the continuation, the newest F-series truck to die, though pretty much already dead.

So where does one come across a truck like this, well craigslist. Here is what the seller new of the truck:

Needs an ICM (ignition control module) to make that 6 cylinder run, man that is an awesome engine. Has no glass, previous owner had used it as his "shooting car". Gas tank out (when asked why, there was no response). New pipe bumper. Needs a "bigger" oil plug.

Perplexed I asked why does it need a "bigger" oil plug, it seems redneck's step son, who we will call bastard, was trying to change the oil and turned the wrench the wrong way....

So what would one pay for a complete (kind of) 1984 Bronco??? $200.

So here is the plan, take the following:

*TTB Shafts
*Transmission (NP435)
*Transfer Case (NP208) (for sale if anyone wants it)
*Driveshaft
*Clutch pedals, master, and slave cylinder
*Tires 10" rims with 35" Remington Brute Force's on them (for sale if anyone wants it, though I think Frick might have dibs)

All the other parts are available for a small fee.

The rest of it will be at your local scrap yard in under a month..... Unless Hot Pocket wants it....

DEAD MAN WALKING....

Moved it from Frick's to my house tonight. It is in the garage. Tomorrow the destruction begins. Will be working at it Friday and Sat. anyone who wants to come by, knock yourself out. Call me first.

Oh, I will save Hot Pocket a quarter panel. I feel bad for calling him a ****ing retard, questioning how he got into college, and sleeping with every girlfriend he has ever had. :flipoff2:

Maybe I am getting soft in my old age, or maybe it is the 6 beers, 3 vodka drinks, and 1 whiskey drink I had tonight, but you have to give Hot Pocket credit. The only thing that has been pissed on more than him is the toilet at 218.... But Hot pocket keeps coming back. Maybe once his balls drop, he destroys a few trucks, and learns to hold some booze he might be an alright guy... (Not in a gay sense Flem, keep looking on E-harmony for your mate...)

Made good progress tonight. Entire front clip is removed. Doors are off. The Bronco is now completely convertible. Pulled front and rear driveshaft and removed (torched) the tranny cross member. I also pulled the pedal assembly out. It was not fun....

Tomorrow I will unbolt the tranny and t-case, then I need to find some way to cut the 6 cylinder out of it and make it land on the trailer.... Then I will remove the front TTB shafts and hubs. Chop the rest up.

Found a guy who will give me 50 bones for the 8.8. Frick is giving me 50 for the tires. I will sell the shafts and then I should break even and have a free clutch pedal setup, tranny, and t-case, less my time...

Oh Hot Pocket, I was easy on the driver's side front fender, I'll bring it to CS on 2-21-09, that means the 21st day of February during the year 2009, not this weekend.....

John Brown, I have one "head light door" for ya. The other has the tabs ripped off.

A large thanks goes to Mike. He came over and helped me wrap this thing up today. We got the tranny out. Next we removed the engine, turns out Mike and I can pretty well lift up a Ford straight 6, it is much lighter than a 302. The rear of a bronco is supprisingly light and for any of you who have hopes that in a roll over the roof will save you, you are screwed, it is all sheet metal there is nothing structural in it..... Mike took the front apart while I removed the rear. Tag team just like that night in Panama with that hooker, Mike in front, me in back!

I will rag on Mike for being a joo, he removed just about every phillips screw on the thing and kept them. When I questioned him he said "They're good screws" He also knew which screws on a Bronco could easily be removed and which could not.

I am supposed to meet the guy tomorrow to buy the 8.8

KrazyKarl02
01-31-2009, 02:22 PM
Turns out a 1984 Bronco, less rear axle, tranny, t-case, tires, and glass plus a few various things Frick had weighs 3,250 lbs. This would convert to $131.20 in terms of todays scrap prices....

Recap:
Original investment - $200
Fuel to pick it up and finally take it to the crap yard - $30

Total investment - $230

Sold Rear 8.8 - $50
Sold tires - $50
Scrap - $131.20

So far the total is 231.20 or 1.20 positive. I have guy looking at the steering column for $40 plus I have the drive shafts and front axle shafts. And I get my NP435 tranny, clutch, etc... for free....

Shall we update the list or maybe make some predictions?

Candidates:

My bronco
sparling's f-150
John Brown's bronco
Cook's truck
Eckert's truck
Travis' bronco......actually, too late

Maybe we destroy these trucks the most because they are the most used?

I think the new one is good. It shifts pretty solid and doesn't slip. I just need to keep it cool. Probably put a temp gauge on it or something to keep an eye on it. The old one had 180k on it and slipped bad before i ever took it offroading and then I probably overheated the trans fluid and messed everything up.
