i was looking into buying knew gears for my jeep, after clayton i relized just how bad i need them, and i cant decide between 5.13 or 4.88 i have heard from a few people that the 5.13 are a lot weaker than the 4.88 due to the pinion gear size, has any one had any experiance with these. the jeep has the pos three speed dana 20 and chev 350 motor running on 36's and d44s

4.88s for that small of tire and stronger pinion.

You ordered a timing chain kit for cardoc for my f150 yesterday. Damn 13 hours of labor.

What gears are in it now?

The 3 speed is marginal in strength and ****ty in gearing. I'd be looking to change that to a sm465 sooner than replacing gears. 6.5:1 first instead of 3:1 first will do you a lot of good.

Yes, 4.88. W/ no overdrive, the 5.13s would blow...

he is gonna do the 465 later but the adapter is too much right now and he wants to do a d300 when he does the swap instead of his d20 right now

i am planning on doing the 465 well kinda down the road.... this is a cheaper fix while still in school....

well i think i solved the gearing problem i ended up doing the 465 dana 300 swap..... that was a huge differeance but the trany i got wont shift into second just tries to grind and jump out i know the retainer clip that holds the spring for reverse is missing but should it still work anybody had this problem before in stead of my shifter restin inbetween 3-4 it sits on 1-2 bc the spring pushes the shifter farther over but would that be whats causing it not to go into second?

No, Cook says and I quote "the sychro is f*cked". Also some punctuation would be nice, Cory.:flipoff2:

That 'piece of paper' won't do you any good when the boss fires you for your bad grammar and punctuation on your weekly TPS reports. :flipoff3:
