I have found that the cheaper models are harder to set when you swap between trailers, but it should be good for a bumper pull. Like I said earlier, Tekonsha makes (atleast all the ones I have had in the past) a good product.

Tekonsha is the only brand I would buy. Never heard or seen a problem with them. I want to bump up to the digital one in a few years.

Tekonsha Prodigy is best. Ex had one in her truck, it was prety nifty. I have a Tekonsha Voyager in my crewcab and it gets the job done just fine.

i would spend the extra $60 and get a Prodigy. Mine works just fine even after a Kustom Motel 6 hotel room install.

I would get the cheapest one with inertia control. Timers suck.

Here's the theory of operation with a timer.
The longer the brake lights are on, the more power to the brakes. Does not matter how fast you are trying to stop. It works the same all the time. And it sucks all the time.

Tekonsha Voyager, came hidden in the dash of the F-250, still works in the Chevy 3500.....

Everyone sucks off the Tekonsha Prodigy. Whats makes it so great? I have the $40 from the parts store and it controls my brakes just fine.

I keep a digital record of what settings for how much I have on the trailer so I don't have to guess so much.

Pirate.

I have the P3 and it doesn't do sh1t. Still in the box and wouldn't help even if it was wired up since I still need to wire up my trailer brakes (Hope that helps)

nope.

so why would you "spend the extra $60 and get the prodigy?"
at least 3 years ago or whenever I stopped reading pirate, the prodigy was the trailers/towing incarnation of the Taurus fan.

that thing he posted is cheesy, for $60 more mine is nice with a digital readout and such. The one karl/sharpe has works too.

Mine has a digital display. When I tow Bronco I put it on 4, when i tow ZJ i put it on 3, when i tow empty trailer, I put it on 1. Pretty basic. It is a Reese Pilot.

When i said everyone sucks it off, by everyone, I meant Pirate.

edit, looks like it is closer to $60. $40 was two years ago and with my parts store discount. Still though, I wouldn't pay much more than that.

When you are totin' heavy loads like I do at times, it is nice to be able to set it at 4.7 when you have my truck and brians blazer on there, and know that 4.2 is where it needs to be with only my truck, and then the travel trailer is a 3.9 with the tanks empty, and a 4.1 with them full. (those are not exact numbers, but they are close)

I figured it did, just wanted to give a better explanation to the towing virgins. ;)
