Who wants to go on the cheap. Tix are $200ish out of IAH, actually cheaper that Southwest.

I'm talking split a room, watch comp, goto a bar, that's about it. No machine guns, gambling, or sight-seeing for me this time.

We can start a new thread to avoid clogging up andy's awesomeness.

Andy-maniacs for life!!!

Hooters is $481 for flight and hotel room, Trump is $497 and Excalibur is $499. I just went through expedia and did hotel + airfare for 1. So basically split the room with someone else that buys a separate and it comes out to $350/person.

I dont know where any of these hotels are, or where the comp is held in relation to them.

FJAggie07
07-31-2009, 11:22 AM
Do NOT stay at Trump, the rooms are nice don't get me wrong, but it is off the strip and they don't have a casino. They are a hotel in VEGAS and don't have a CASINO! Whickey Tango Foxtrot?!? It is also down by the Wynn, behind the mall (i.e. center of the strip)

Hooters I have never stayed at nor been in but it is also off the strip behind MGM. Excaliber is right next to New York New York and while on the strip it is at the very beginning. I would check out New York New York and the MGM they both should have pretty good deals going cause they are geared more towards the mid 20's crowd.

jerryg79
07-31-2009, 12:05 PM
a friend of samantha's always stays at hooters. By the time you pick flights with reasonable times the tickets are $400. hooters is a $100/night. Mgm is $195 and New York is $170.

Where are all the fcukers that said they were interested?

Jimmy?
Hippie?
Buttkiss?
Coop?

I'm in fawking Quemado, TX on The Mexican cell network. Try www.vegas.com for flight + hotel deals. Hooters and Hard Rock are supposed to be best for our age crowd these days, but the older casinos like Ballys or Harrahs might have the closest prices to what you might pay downtown at some place like The Nugget...

Will charge my phone and report back later, discuss amongst yourselves.

I'm definitely interested, would fly standby on SWA more than likely. I'll just have to see what's up in the next month.

Too bad we arent in our mid twenties anymore? Or was that supposed to say "geared more towards dooshy 40k millionaire types"?

Hmm. Happy Birthday to me? :) I think I have a meeting in Dallas, but I'm not seeing it in my calendar. I would say I'm "hopeful" since I'm still not sure how this kiddo thing is going to work out. The good thing is that Whitney could spend the weekend in ATX with the fam, so that would be fine.

Looks like the comp is at the Orleans, which is on Tropicana Ave (off the strip). Looks like www.vegas.com has rooms at the Orleans for $155/night that friday and saturday. Excalibur is $156, Hooter's is $145, Paris & New York New York are ~$250.

if a lot of people get committed, I hear that VRBO is the ticket for nice accommodations in Vegas. People rent out their apartments in the MGM Grand or whatever and with the rental you get access to pools and stuff, and they don't care how many people stay there

jerryg79
08-04-2009, 12:08 PM
It was this or SEMA, i dont think i can make sema as our end of the month close is that monday. so im still probably in for this.

I thought that those apartments were in the MGM Signature whatever and I know that place is nice.

I can't believe NEw York New York is that expensive. I have never stayed there but I thought it would be a lot cheaper than that. Since it is across the interstate might want to check out Rio (?) too...

soooo...we're back to shooting machineguns? :D

I am a big fan of the ghetto accomodations at the imperial palace, mainly due to their proximity to O'Shea's, which lu will confirm is the best casino in Vegas for non-rich, young (ish) folks. And the dealers are all fluent in English!

I clicked through an email from Stratosphere and can get a room with 2 queens for the whole weekend for $180. It's not really close to anything but the free bus goes right up the strip to it, so it's not that bad.

hey if you guys dont care where we stay i could cover 2 rooms for 2 nights (4-stays) for free at holiday inn.

i have 4 free nights i need to blow by december.

my other thought is to use these rooms for coming up to the a&m / colorado game

uglyota

I'd vote for this or the hotel where the event is going down. Flights are a bit more than $200 from DFW but Stef seems to be in favor of the idea of me leaving her alone for a weekend.

Any of you guys thinking about being there that friday? I have that friday off and it would be stupid cheap for me to fly down Thursday night (sept 24) and back Saturday night. Hotels probably cheaper that way too. Sunday flights out of Vegas are where they nail you.

alright I am going to see if I can find a reasonable flight back Sunday but am a 100% definite for at least thursday night-saturday night (srsly though...after about 48 hrs in vegas I am pretty much cashed out anyway)
what's the gig on hotels? We gonna take Coop up on his generosity, go for the Stratosphere, or look into something else?

jerryg79
08-06-2009, 09:48 AM
im good with stratosphere, i always prefer hotels that resemble the falus. (sp?) If coop wants to spring for the free hotels. i can pitch him some money, that's fine. Im planning on getting in Thurs night as well, so ill have to get a hotel room for at least one night somewhere i guess.

Gentlemen, may I present to you The Capri at Imperial Palace
A separate three-story motel structure located 100 yards behind the main tower (read: it's like a Project on the Strip). High Speed Wireless Internet available! (additional charges apply). Refrigerators, dry cleaning and laundry services also available (additional cost).
$230/room for 3 nights thurs-sun, 2 queen beds, double occupancy

that goes $58/person for the weekend if we go 4 people/room. That's damn cheap.

I'm good with the phallus-sphere, would prefer to stay close to the strip. If this other place isn't shanty town it may not be a bad deal either. I think I'd hit up video poker and blackjack, but the amount I have to gamble with is directly related to the cost of the flight out there.

I won't be there until Friday night. Don't think I have any vacation time left so a day off would end up making this way more expensive than I can justify to Stef.

jerryg79
08-06-2009, 01:27 PM

Badass - Andy - you are looking big, still at the same weight?

I'm not sure what weight we discussed, but I was 330 in Australia. I compete between 320 -- 330.

Next up for me is the All American Strongman Competition (http://www.thefitexpo.com/strongman.asp) in LA next month. After that, who knows? I'm competing in Ireland in June, and I have to compete once to qualify for the American Championship in August, then top 12 from that go on to America's Strongest Man at the Olympia in Vegas next September.
