since ive never done an axle swap before i was thinking that the 8.8 would be a little easier but im open to suggestions...how much are you asking? and what did it come out of?

My bronco, $500. Its listed in my for sale thread. I'm pretty sure it will be wider than an explorer 8.8, so endless your going full width in the front it might not be a good idea.

I would say a stock ford explorer 8.8 axle is worth $50 to $100. The 4.10 gears are probably another $200. The detroit locker is another $300 atleast. So I would say if that is the axle with the gearing you want then, it could be worth $500. I would think $800 would be high.

Do you already have 4.10's?

Meet the on-line junkyard search engine. Looks like you can get one with 4.10 ratio for about $150. 3.73 down to $75.

That one I listed is a pretty good deal considering a full detroit for one of those is $480 by itself, plus having it setup. The original carrier is the weak link. Also I would fully weld the tubes, they've been known to spin.
