My brother has a 2006 Explorer with push button 4x4. It won't shift into low for him. I have no knowledge of any push button crap.

Anyone know of any forums that explains the systems?

He must push the button properly. I think he needs to be stopped, in neutral, with foot on brake.

you might have to have the e-brake in when in neutral

He knows this... I called him and asked a few more questions. You can shift it into high at anytime. For low you have to do all the crap above. If you don't have the sequence right it will flash the light at you so you know you've sinned. He said the light doesn't do anything. He already checked the fuse.

The older explorers (and broncos) had electric solenoids that sometimes would burn up. I am guessing that thing has a 1354?

do you the vehicle in neutral when you are shifting into 4x4. u have to shift into 4x4 high then put it in gear n then back to neutral and then into 4x4 low. if you are doing all that then it could be a fuse the switch, wiring or the motor.

There are two different posts on there about it but no one has a solution.

The owners manual in the humma said if you couldn't get 4hi/4lo to engage, then you should put it in neutral going about 3-5 MPH, then push the button, and it should switch over.

Just sayin, when I had the same problem, I read my manual and that's what I did. It worked.

No need to get pissy :flipoff2:

Don't worry, he just hasn't had any of his alone time w/ Big Ed, and he gets edgy when time starts getting close. ;)
