Just keep her away from 'dogtown', she'll want to come home with one of those dyeing pups that the redneck dealer drowns if he doesn't sell them by Sunday. Ask me how I know she'll want to save one!

Just got back. Was raining all weekend. That made for some interesting wheeling, somehow we managed to make sure fugly couldn't shift out of first gear in the sm420, and now the transfer case won't shift out of low.

As far as the douche bags running it, after chatting with the tmtc president this weekend they will probably not be around any longer, so that is a little bit of a good sign.

FJAggie07
01-17-2010, 01:20 PM
Ok, just a little explanation behind it, this past week Lawton (guy who runs the place) was supposed to get the tractor that he broke fixed and was supposed to wrap all the pipes in the office so they didn't freeze. The pipes burst on Tuesday blowing out all of the showers and the tractor was still broken. The president of the bmra bod had to go out there and bring in a plumber and tractor mechanic to get everything fixed to fulfill the conditions of the contract that I signed for the services of renting the park for the weekend. They got everything handled but it was just one more nail in the coffin.

How is it going to work out with the fees? Are we getting charges the day use fee only if we wheel that day or if we are in the park? I'm assuming it'll be 2 nights of primitive camping and a day use fee (if we don't wheel on Sunday) which adds up to 55 bucks in the park. Sound about right?

robertf03
02-20-2010, 11:39 AM
yes, that sounds right. I believe there is a sticker you must purchase to wheel public lands. I'll look into that later today. It wasn't a problem last time I was there but I think a game warden could give you crap if they show up.

Hey guys just wanted to upload a map to show where we will be camping. If you have little regards for your trailer you can tow it down there to unload, if you like for it to stay pretty and don't have any confidence in your Tow rig you can leave your trailer up by the Air Compressor. We will be camping at TTR camp which has a pavilion, grill, porta-let and a good fire ring. Please see the red circle below. I might be out there friday night, but I doubt it. I will most likely be out there early Saturday morning and ride along with someone with my lack of a wheeling vehicle. When is everyone planning on getting out there?

The Compressor is up at the office. Why not just drop your gooseneck and bring your truck down to camp and sleep in it?

Or if you look at the map above, the green area just above TTR camp that is circled is an open "playground" area and would make a decent parking area for trailers, I have done that before with Pop's 30' gooseneck.

ya but the shaft you have could be broken and the remaining inch be stuck in the carrier. You would be surprised how cleanly the splined portion of a shaft can break off like that.

for instance here is a d-30 shaft that twisted and broke leaving an inch stuck in the carrier.

The inner axle seals are apparently different between truck and bronco housings of the same vintage so maybe the shafts are a c*nt hair different too.

stx4wheeler
02-24-2010, 10:38 AM
They shouldn't be different, the only thing I can think of would be that the shaft is from a 76 or 77 model that had welded on wedges not cast. Call Clayton and ask to just go look at the set he has. I know for a fact that they came from a bronco78-79 Dana 44 because I pulled them myself.

i think i may sell my bronco and get a 92-96 one. Yes i'll get ttb (i heard its not that bad) but i'll get way more reliability too.

TWIN TRACTION BEAMS!!!!

I would rather have ttb, IMO it's cheaper and easier to modify.

I doubt a 92-96 bronco will be much more dependable with your wheeling style. Also the parts will be more complicated and more expensive.

ie:
Front axle shaft replacement seems to be troubling you as it is.

Truly, TTB is IFS

TTB is stronger because you can ram stuff with it. IFS is better for the road, especially since TTB eats tires.

Saturday - Looks like a perfect day, high around 60, no rain
Sunday - Rain in the afternoon, but we'll be gone

Of course, I already made sure no one was going out there from TTR, outside of that it is free for anyone to use.

The only reason I suggested TTR camp, is because Rover camp is a sonovabitch to get in and out of when you get a lot of rigs in there. The Jeep camp is also pretty good.

By the way the Chinese Rover Knock Off Camp would be the Lone Star Land Cruiser Camp, or old camp. ;)

it was a good trip, somewhere in the range of 9 or 10 rigs, 20+ people, and lots of good times were had.

Carnage List:
Tommy's XJ - something in the trans let loose and it no longer moves under its own power
Klogger - ran out of gas and then started blowing fuses
Frick's Contraption - broken clutch linkage
My Blazer - blew a bead agian, and then yelled 'sweet nothings' at lu for not fixinng it correctly, ran out of gas, some sort of stumbling issue
Flem's Rover - broken rear drivers side cargo window, broken driverside tail light
Clayton - i think he was having problems with one of his hubs

Pretty good time. Gears make all the difference, carb ran 90%, hummer tires suck, flopping on your side is fun.

Oh man, the truck is on the trailer, and Kevin can't get it out of gear. I've got an idea, lets tie Brian's blazer to it and then have Jerry stand on the brakes of the tow rig, while Kevin is in the truck on the trailer. Then Brian yanks, it, Frick flys into the steering wheel....

What Karl said but I was un aware the the game plan of slowly dragging it had been scraped, and we were now getting a running start. I was lening forward trying to get it out of gear when the first launch happened. At this point my nose metthe steering wheel.

the one i am missing is not a full size one, its about 2/3 the size of the ones everyone seems to have

i think i used it when you had to drag me up the hill when i ran out of gas

TMatheaus
02-28-2010, 05:00 PM
the cherokee does not move on its own anymore, was going down a hill, dropped off a decent sized ledge and something made some noise, thought it was the fan hitting something, that was not the case, proceeded on and noticed it would go some and slip some, so i elected to get pulled back to camp, once i got there it wouldn't move at all anymore
