Supposed to rain late Wednesday night and Thursday, think it will be substantial enough to close the park?

agjohn02

Its an off-road park, but you might want to keep your avatar away from there when its wet.

You forget John, this is 47 you are talking about. They will close because it's too wet if you take a leak in the parking lot. :flipoff2:

yeah, they aren't too serious with it, but if it gets bad they shut'er down.

a club went out there and rutted it up real bad going mud bogging and ever since then he closes it down if it is to wet and muddy, i was out there last weekend and the back half of the park was closed becasue he said it was to muddy

If BVORR and General Sam's were next door to each other, I would go to General Sam's. But its 50 or so miles away. It is not a bad drive, but certainly not as convient as BVORR.

I will be serving my community till 2pm Sunday, otherwise I would go.:(

wow, what a disaster today was.

It started out with me in the zj, zach's jk, tommy's bronco, flem, an f150, a yj, and eventually Robbie's CJ and Brian's Blazer.

We made it no more than 100yards into the muddy section before everyone got stuck. It was a cluster**** from the beginning. Tommy's Bronco somehow broke the bottom ball joint, which then pulled the upper out. Luckily he was not too far from dry ground and the combo of Flem's and ZAP's, and my F150 winch, followed by Robbie's and Brian's winch, got him to dry enough ground that we could winch it onto my trailer and get the hell out of there.

so the droopy looking bronco is on jb's trailer at my lot waiting to be cleaned so we can figure out if the knuckle or c is fubared. if he is really lucky it will only need a brake line and a pair of ball joints. not shure if axle shafts survived but the ujoint was toasted

For the record...

Cook knows how to put a hub together, he just might not have cared on yours.

Robbi'e's jeep has been saved plenty of times, I would not go out calling it the savior, although it seems mud might be the ideal medium for it to wheel!

I only attempted to "spot' you the first two times in, when you had no four wheel drive. I will no longer try to help you avoid getting stuck by staying out of holes and keeping your wheels pointed the correst direction. Also, remember that you are ultimately the one behind the wheel.

I don't think you are a dumbass, just maybe have some learning and growing up to do. That being said, I think I was the token drunk yesterday if there was one.

We didn't bump your truck with another truck, just the tire!

All that being said, yesterday was a great example of the importance of having a good front and rear tow point on your vehicle, and ideally having a good strap per vehicle. Everyone make it out with their strap? I would hate for that one good one to still be out there in the woods, tempting to go back out there and get it.

This is true, only more recently has the jeep made successful runs without needing recovery. However, mud will never be the ideal medium for it to wheel as I hate mud...

Everyone make it out with their strap? I would hate for that one good one to still be out there in the woods, tempting to go back out there and get it.
I have the two I brought out there with me. Was J.B. missing one?

I was at a family get together yesterday and had no intention of going out there until Flem and Clarke called inquiring recovery service. After driving the jeep out there and getting completely covered in mud, I enjoyed a wonderful night time drive home in 30 degree weather with no windshield...

my 2 cents, which are appearently worthless on today's market, buy another D44 front for $200-250. spend a couple hundred more replacing 30 year old ball joints, steering components, bearings, etc. maybe even invest in a NP205.

JB, I might be beating a dead horse here, but there was a strap thrown on the ground way back in the back where flem was stuck. Near where Robbie pulled the F150 and the rover out. Did you go back that far, or just look in the front? I think you could walk through the woods to where it was and stay relatively dry. I just hate a good strap going to waste.

A group of 7 4x4's unable to traverse a mud pit is not a sign you are being blocked. It is a sign that you have no hope of getting through, either.

But I guess when you've got Thornbirds on your truck, you can drive uphill through grease.

I got it fixed. When i was driving back i noticed a really bad vibration. I baby it for a while cuz i just think it is all the mud in the rims. All the sudden it vibrates really bad and at this point i know what it is. Last time i didn't put locktite on the bolts connecting the driveshaft to the trans and they backed out. One cap was missing, one bolt sheared and two were bent. So, i had to go to napa (about 1/2 miles away) get the bolts and u-joint and put it back together (with locktite) while missing the first half of the superbowl

Sooo, apparently I did not escape Soggy Bottom without some damage of my own...

I no longer have any armor protecting my transfer case. The rear piece of my front skid plate is destroyed. It folded forward at some point, probably when I was towed backwards out of the pit. I only discovered what happened while washing my truck and realizing that the large piece of metal hanging down from my skid plate was not a foreign object scooped from the muck and wedged in, but something that was originally attached to my truck, horribly mangled and torn.

So for now, I'm one good rock away from being downgraded to Prerunner.

What does doing a solid axle swap have to do with t-case protection? I may have a stock skid/cross member soon that I can give to you, I am pulling mine off in the next couple of weeks.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. SAS isn't cheap, and it's fairly involved. There are many other things I'll want to do first before even considering SAS.

No, my front diff is still protected by the forward plate. It's the t-case that is exposed because rear plate got peeled away by something buried in the mud.

150 for an axle? Wow. No lockah, so we weld it but wait no shafts, so they go boom, what the hell would be the point over ifs? You can have flex with no traction and get no where or break on the way and that is no fun for a daily driver, but here are some additional costs for doing it on the cheap...

Oil pan, return, sump, dip stick and assoted goodies for engine...$100
shocks...$200
frame plating...$100
drive shafts... $100 (on the cheap)
rear springs and hangers for 63" chevys...$60
ubilt flip kit... $40
tires and wheels for new found glory...$500 if you find good used 35's.

Just a lil more money. He needs a lift, tcase skid, some 33's and a limited slip for the frontand keep his dd clean. :)
