The market value for scrap varies, but recently has been around $100 a ton.

$7 for long and $8 for short.

it was 8 per hundred for tin when i was there last week
I have only taken stuf a couple times, but am curious how I can seperate scrap to maximize any money. I know there is clean and dirty copper, what about stripping radiators/condensors, diff between long and short, etc/

you have to be reweighed after each type is taken off your trailer or you can haggle the weight of part with the guy who gives you the little strip
so what exactly is each type?

short iron, long iron, motors, tin, alluminum and cast are the big ones in the back. cats, copper, alluminum breakage and small alluminum are weighed inside the building
