I cut the whole floor out of my cab to get a fresh start from rust and what I already cut out from the boat sides that I did. Since I already had the floor out I spaced up the transfer case to get a completely flat bottom at the bottom of the frame rails. The bw1356 I'm using is pretty flat I only had to space it up a 1/4" at the transmission mount. The 1356 was put together from 3 cases I had laying around to get what I wanted with a manual shifter, 1 ton yoke up front, a flange out back and I also ended up with a pto in case I ever get a crazy idea for it. I have framed out the new floor with round bar and have a full sheet of 16 gauge steel to cover the framing with.

I also made a dead blow ball peen out of some scraps that were laying around that turned out pretty awesome.

Any of those 1356 parts from my stuff?

Pretty much all of it except the front case half. I need a new rear case half though because the drain plug is fawked. I guess I can just split the case on the off chance I need to drain it. Interesting fact, the front half of the cases with PTOs are aluminum instead of magnesium alloy like the rest of them. The rest of the parts I had were either broken or rusted pretty bad. I pretty much had exactly the right parts I needed to make what I wanted.

I also kind of want to make a 1356 doubler but the $500 price tag for the kit is too much right now.

Do you have any useable carb'd fuel tank pick ups? Mine was rusted to **** and is in no way useable.

And here's one of the main reasons I haven't really gotten a whole lot done on my rig. I've been working on filling up my toolbox with tools made in the USA. I've discovered that Craftsman is hard to do that with now as 90% of their tools are now made in China or Taiwan. I like this website for tools, good prices and they tell you the country of origin for every tool. Harry J. Epstein (http://store.harryepstein.com/)

Random idea that started after welding a trailerball and some scraps together for a big retarded hammer so I took it back a few levels of retard and it turned out freaking sweet. It's full of bb's and they really make a difference.

This thing has been sitting in the woods behind evans house for the past 5 months with nothing getting done. I pulled it out of the woods monday after getting some motivation to work on it from the trip this weekend.

What I've done so far this week:
Pull a tire off to wire wheel the rim so the bead will seal. This has been an issue since I got the tires from Karl. There was about 3 gallons of water in the tire.
Install and plumb a new fuel system (fuel sending unit, lines, filter, and pump)
New transmission crossmember and mount.

I want to get this thing so I can make sunday runs out to 47 this summer and maybe some real trips this fall.

Things it needs:
-Transmission
-cooler lines
-shifter
-Engine
-new coil
-exhaust
-wiring
-make a battery box
-mount the fan
-Body
-recovery points
-finish the floor
-plate the boatsides
-cup holders
-Drivetrain
-Rear brake lines
-Rear shocks/upper mounts
-drive shafts
-weld up the rear

Transfer case is high enough to have a flat skit plate when it gets that far.

Next time I build a rig, I'm starting with something that hasn't been sitting in a field for 15 years. It's getting close and it's been cheap but it's too much work to go wheeling.

Finished the floor tonight and mocked up interior stuff. I feel tons better now that it's finally done. Way too much welding thin sheet metal.

looking good, i assume you made the trans/tcase center floor section removable? it is hard to tell from the pictures.

The top of the tunnel all the way from the back to the front is bolted in. There's two pieces and I welded some flat bar around the opening, drilled holes in it and used speed nuts from tractor supply to bolt the covers down. I plan on using a really thick layer of bed liner to finish it once I finish seat mounts and a few other things.

did you leave any drain holes?

Sparling

no. I'm going to find a certain kind that I have in mind

Yah.

So they're either going to be igloo cooler drain spigots or rubber boat bilge plugs.

What's the best way to fix stripped out fuel inlet threads on a carb? I have a 2bbl holley on the truck now and the threads are stripped. I might dig through my box of motorcraft 2100 parts and find enough parts to put one together.

I'd probably clean the shat out of it then JB weld and retap and never tell anyone about it.

or just replace it, how much can a replacement be?

Sparling

Summit has new fuel bowls for $50. Thinking about it, I have a 4 bbl holley in my truck tool box. I'm going to check to see if the fuel bowl is the same.

$50 bucks? I forgot how cheap domestic carb stuff is. Order it and don't think twice about it.
