I was kind of hoping it would be a 4.0 powered CAT 797B. It would give power to weight a whole new meaning. Kind of like a truck with terrible gas mileage, mileage so bad you measure in gallons per mile, only you'd be measuring in tons per horsepower.

I don't think a 4.0 has enough umph to even be a pony motor for the engine on one of those trucks.

NP242s were used in Selec-Trac Cherokees and Hummers.
Not exactly the same specwise, but same case.

good to know. the question is what spline is it so to make shure a 231 will bolt in. or do we have to make something work
RCcola55
04-06-2010, 11:44 PM
23 i believe. I wanna find a 241j, but i have a feeling it will be a bit out of my budget
Eckert
04-07-2010, 12:13 AM
Ive got a np241C with a 23 spline input. except it has the 231 planetary. its missing the slip yoke. but you want a SYE anyways. the face of the 231 and 241 are identical. make me an offer.

paddle shifting here we come!
agjohn02
04-22-2010, 03:46 PM
be sure to let us know if that ends up working. ive been contemplating it for a future project. it would be hard to make it very robust. the electronic shifters seem like a better solution. im sure the buttons on that wheel suck though.
