The Jeep has been getting 10mpg, if i'm lucky i'll get 11. That's city driving with the a/c off(it's cold). I talked to my cousin and he said he's getting 16-18 in his tj (97) with 33" tires.

I have read about cracked exhaust manifolds in the 4.0's but my year had a 2 piece that is less likely to crack.

Jeep guys, what mpg are you getting? Know of anything to fix this?

I'm no jeep guy, but I suggest only driving downhill or more preferably off a cliff.

Is your cousins a manual vs yours an automatic?

Is your cousin someone retarded who isn't that good at math?

It's a rubicon, isn't it? 4.10 gears on it if that's the case. Something with your emissions could be out of whack. Or it's just getting old and it likes to eat gas. Also very dependant on how you drive. And i know you drive like a jack ass. So considering that, ten isn't very surprising.

Not a rubi.

Put one of these on it. With the extra power you'll use less fuel. Hurry, there's only 34 minutes left!

Well I know my JK is rated at 15/19 but I'm sure if I drove real fast around town I could get 12 or less haha

Have you tried the basic tune-up stuff? How many miles on each? Maybe your cousin drives like an 80 year old, whereas you drive like an Asian lady. Could be lots of reasons, including just ****ty math amplified by inaccurate gauges due to larger tires.

Start with the basic **** and go from there. In my '98 with the Auto, 3.07s and 33s, I got about 13 hwy or city.

check for fuel leaks with a lighter.

Seriously I got around almost 15 in town and 18 on the highway when the jeep was stock. I can't tell you what I got with the 33's because I stoped calculating mileage around that time

my cousin's jeep
-97
-lift and 33" tires
-front and rear warn bumpers w/hilift jack and winch
-manual
-72000 miles
-15 mpg

dad's jeep
-06
-no lift 31" tires
-stock bumpers
-70,000 miles
-10 mpg

I don't drive like a jackass in the jeep cause it's slow and there's no use. It has trouble going 75 on the highway. When it was new, you could do 80 easily and my dad was getting 18 mpg in colorado, mostly highway. I don't get how it could lose that much power and mileage so quickly.

Then maybe you should try some of the things others have sugggested to try and fix it instead of just bitching about it on the interweb. Did you ever fix the messed up rear axle? This may have something to do with it as well.

Realize you're driving a brick with a tent on top of it and just giving up is the best bet.

I highly doubt your cousin gets that good of gas mileage with all the extras. Maybe on the highway haha And I believe it was mentioned earlier that if his speedo was not recalibrated for the larger tires (which it can't be unless he bought an aftermarket tuner/recalibration tool), then his calculations are way the hell off.

mileage is about right I didn't get horrible mileage with my 33s,

just because your jeep has a crap motor doesn't mean that the 4.0 gets crap mileage

My motor is ****in sweet :flipoff2: and I only say that because my Uncle had 35's on his TJ and got something like 11 in the city. My engine gets **** mileage too, though. If you own a Jeep you get bad gas mileage, period.
