My girlfriend's mom has an 06 model S430. At idke, this thing shakes like a baby who wont stop crying. There's also some black smoke coming out of the tailpipe.

I know black smoke means the motor is getting too much fuel, but what are some possible causes to the problem?

In either case, take it to the dealer, let them figure it out. If you can afford a benz, you should be able to afford the maintenance bills.

Bad gas and the computer is overcompensating? Overengineered German doodoo? Who knows, it's an '06, the dealer shouldn't charge too much to hook it up and scan it.

Pulled codes and got a misfire in cylinder 1. I Changed the plugs and wires on the number 1 cylinder and it's running good again. The Benz design for plugs and wires is interesting to say the least.
