SON OF A ****ING BITCH! Travis and John Brown had to point out a stick stuck in my power steering pump hoses and so I remove it only to find out it was holding the whole damn thing together. So I pull the stick out and it immediately dumps all of the fluid out. This would happen to me.

So, two forward, one back. Replaced fuel pump and Cruiser is running again (thx Flem). Shackle situation should be resolved today. Still have one bent rear spring. Thinking of replacing it. :D I think my power steering pump is out also. If I'm doing that, I want to replace my ram which has leaked since I put it on (Thx RNO). But then I think I have to change my mounts. FN rig. How does the list get longer as the week goes on, not shorter?

Good news though, brakes on the coach are ready for a test drive and didn't need replacing, just a hose and adjusting. Fluids, filters, and belts are all being replaced today. Thx Brazos Diesel, no thx Chops (disappointing).

Planning on leaving late Thursday (company Christmas meeting). Will be there to see the die-hards still up, and for breakfast Friday.

Looking forward to it.

DAMMIT!!!!! looks like I'll be running Clayton open/open. my eLocker electromagnet isn't taking full power and will barely engage and when it does it won't hold. i even tried wiring it straight to the battery and it made no difference. gotta pull the diff over break. awesome...

can't you take the motor off and vice grip something without taking the diff out?

Did you check to make sure you don't have a break in one of the wires? If I were a guessing man, I would say check at the magnet.

Weeble
12-12-2011, 05:55 PM
thats what I'm thinking. i used a tester to check power at the diff and its good. it has to be at the magnet itself.

Here. There was some pretty intense rains from Stringtown to Clayton and the roads suck. Hit a bump avoiding some standing water and broke a strap on the honda and almost lost it. Finallly got here and it is still raining pretty good.

I got Room 5, which must stand for 5 star, because it was nice and remodeled. New wood paneling on the walls and vinyl floors. But the bed was soaked and the roof tiles were falling down from a leak. So he put me in room 4 until tomorrow. Room 4 sucks. I think the bedding is from 1974. The sink drips. The carpet is nasty. Sucks for whoever gets this room. I am going to skank it up good for you:D

There is a big Dollar General next door now.

But if you have never been here before, seriously, you might bring a sleeping bag and pillow because the beds/bedding are old.

OK, thx. She said 24 hours when I made the reservation, but whatever.

It would help if they ever answered the phone or at least had voice mail. I called them at least 15 times to get the appointment in the first place. Probably 5 times yesterday and twice this morning.

I hope alot of the newer guys were able to see past the wheeling and get an idea of what the club is about.

I think you lost more than just the bearings on that one!

Klogger report - Friday I shatted a distributor within 10 minutes. We left it to go wheel with other people. I was able to source enough parts to make a distributor and get it running at about 2 am with Fred's help. Saturday wheeled all day, and then around 4:30 I shat an idler pulley on the serp belt. I left it and later drove it on the trailer. This morning I noticed I broke a leaf spring center pin also.

While it was running, it did well for the klogger.

Bastard worked great besides debeading a tire within the first 20 minutes of wheeling because I aired down to far.

After fixing that with the help of the most notorious chevy tire deflator in the club it went up everything I pointed it at.

Cardoc is going to love that Tommy. What does a new axle cost?

KrazyKarl02
12-18-2011, 10:55 PM
I think it is under $150 for a 3500 # axle. Call Trailer wheel and Frame in Houston on 45, they are cheap.

Actually we called John before we left because it looked a little crooked. John came over and took the hubs apart and said that they were fine.

I'm glad that I did that because it at least showed them that I was paying attention and trying to take care of it. A new axle at tractor supply is only $160. I'm willing to buy him a new one because it did happen while I was using it.

We weren't overloading the trailer, and the bearings had been repacked by John in the walmart parking lot before we left. There is no reason why the bearing should have gone out, I think that all of the grease came out because it didn't have any caps on it and toasted the bearings. Or there was too much grease and it held in all of the heat.

Well I played a little hard on Wet & Wild yesterday before heading back to the trailer. Pulled it off the trailer today and both of my autozone blocks on the back axle sheared off their center pins and the axle is tilted upwards

it could have happened if he over tightend the spindle nut when he greased the bearings causing them to overheat and then seize

Bronco report:
-battery was dying before we left but it wasn't dead so I couldn't go warranty it at napa. It died on the trail so I warrantied it out at the clayton napa.
-Beat the **** out of the doors. Neither one will open.
-Blew a fuse to the radio and tach.

All in all I was pretty happy with it. I need to figure out the fuel injection problems. I think it's a wiring problem. I redid the computer grounds and it seemed like it fixed the problem. After 30 min on the trail it came back.

Locker held up and i really didn't have any major prolems.

Had a blast out at Clayton and it was great meeting everyone! Thanks again to Busa for letting Amanda and I ride along with him yesterday through all the real trails. Thought i made it out of Clayton with the only damage to my little JK being a mangled exhaust tip, but after driving it all the way home this morning I noticed the back Diff is leaking, hopefully its just a seal i'll look into it more tomorrow. I have tons of pics, Ill post them on facebook tomorrow.

Not necessarily. On trailer axles you tighten the spindle nut until you feel a bit of rotation resistance. Then back it off until the next notch for the cotter pin or retainer clip. At least that is how I have done it. You don't set much pre-load on that bearing at all. Any how, it looks like a lubrication issue to me.

BTW. You are either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid to continue to tow the bronco on three wheels for that distance. I would be pretty leery.

Thank you Ryan, I would really like to watch you explain to John at cardoc about how he should fix his own ****ing trailer

It was a 250 mile trip, with a 5k lbs Bronco and a 2k lbs trailer which is neither long or heavy. This trip was way too awesome to talk about our ride home, and honestly it wasn't that bad. The worst part was walking past the pigs only to have them spook behind us and run away.

if you went through wome water you may have filled up the diff with some water and now stuff is leaking out, you may just need to drain the fluid mix and re fill with good oil

Also a big :flipoff2: to the asshats that tried to draw penises on me after I took way to many pulls of the SoCo bottle. I went to sleep at 4 yesterday afternoon and slept until 5 this morning. This means that I slept the same last night as I did the entire trip. Looking forward to next year and seeing everyone again.

Tum-tum - When Dave and I passed you and travis y'all were at a walmart gas station? The didge looked way saggy, I guess this explains all that.

I counted about 40 at the gift exchange, and that was without Fred, Landon and crew, and the Higgs.

I did a list of names last night, I think the over 25 guys were about 2-1 :)

Great trip as usual, I'm still semi recovering.

For future reference, both gas stations on either side of the light in Durant, OK have cheap fuel. The one on the east side also has the most awesome bathroom I've ever seen in a gas station. It's the one right in front of the casino on the right, headed northbound. Both have easy in and out for trailers.

Great trip as always!

I debeaded a rear tire (that I noticed as I was pulling it on the trailer at the end of day 2) and KO'ed my mini-tailgate. I located what has been leaking on my exhaust for 6 years and tightened up that fitting in about 2 seconds, no more nasty smoke. I say the fix negates the damage, Clayton 2011 was a wash!

Thanks to Fred, Brett, Ryno, and everyone else who helped with my truck.
