Gilmer is good, I never had any trouble out of the people there. The club used to go there often, even had our own trail. They've got trails for all vehicles and they are well marked. It makes a good weekend trip, you can do most of the trails in a day if you don't mess around.

Recent article about Barnwell Mountain Rec Area in Gilmer; might have some new info on things that might have changed since TAMOR has been there last.

Cliff notes please

-1,850 recreation filled acres
-Opened in 2000 as the Texas Motorized Trails Coalitions (TMTC) first property
-140 miles of recreational OHV trails
-For environmental reasons, they do not clear cut trees on the property and have recently invested in erosion control, including adding silt ponds on the west side of the property.
-Some of the rules observed are: helmets (DOT Approved) are required at all times when riding ATVs or motorcycles; no public consumption of alcohol – alcohol is expressly forbidden on all trails; factory hardtop or roll cage/roll bar and seatbelts are required for all occupants in OHVs / 4?4 or trail buggies; no trail riding after 10:00 PM.
-Guests can take advantage of multiple group camp sites, 20 RV sites, office, toilets and showers, and a pavilion for member use.
-BRMA is developing plans for expansion including, among other additions, a new office and extra restrooms.
-The area is open every weekend from 8:00 am Friday to approximately 6:00 pm Sunday (dusk) unless otherwise noted on the home page as “BMRA CLOSED”. A gate guard is on duty Friday night until 2am and Saturday night until midnight for after-hours access for guests.
-Be sure to mark those calendars as October 29th and 30th are designated as their “Fall Work Weekend.” They are asking volunteers to get groups together and make plans to help maintain the “best public off-road park in East Texas.”

Also, anyone want to check this place out?

It looks like it has some real potential but only opened in Feb. of this year so it might be pretty basic to say the least.

it's $55 for a weekend.......little pricey but looks like it could be worth it.

and that's if you don't camp there, so $80 for a weekend.

edit, look at the rules, I really don't like this place.
