I just picked up an Eureka 1210 8-person tent. Lists for $240 and I paid $150, which is $40 cheaper than Amazon. I haven't been in a tent since scouts, normally just sleep in the truck, is there anything I need to do before using? Do you still have to seal the tents with that spray stuff?

Sharpe - do you want to buy this? I was kinda set on one of those easy colman tents.

Everyone who buys an expensive tent for wheeling is stupid. It's all about the junior tents from wal mart.

Those worked out awesome for everyone at the river the year it poured down. :rolleyes: I think Frick can vouch. Advantage, Scamper. :)

I want a small 2 man also for the summer solo trips. But I may not be having many more of those. Good tents show their worth when weather rolls in.

I've done the cheap tent thing, and it worked well, but now I'm old and like nice things :flipoff2:

It's cheap insurance to spray it with seem sealer.

the trick to a good tent that will keep water out;
1) the floor must go up the sides of the tent a few inches.. "boat sides" if you will
2) the rain fly needs to be held away from the inner tent itself

the boat sides are the best thing on a tent. otherwise water will allways get into the seam between the floor and side if you ever get in a good rain
