Me like! When you do get a CAI, make sure and find one with some sort of 'heat shield'. Whether it effectively keeps engine heat away from your CAI or not I have no clue, but it does keep out mud, water, etc.

Did these come with ttb 44 in the front?

Not ready to do the 4.10s yet. Gotta start work again before I do much else.

Yeah I definitely need to be smart about the intake. I have to buy a new air filter after every trip haha.

ttb 35 up front.

Nice! What did you end up doing with those black wheels?

And I agree on the Jurassic park paint

I vote fix what's wrong with the bronco or put all of your stuff in an explorer with either airshocks or coilovers with 4 link rear and 3 link front.

What is it with TAMOR and all the Explorer love? Karl, Tate, and now you? You know why you do not see any of them on the trail? B/c they are lame.:flipoff2:

What was that JB?

JB

Haha Well done. I've changed my mind. I think I was thinking more of the newer body style though. I thinks Tates was a late 90s.

I sold them towards the new rims I have on there now. Thanks!

Jurassic park would be awesome (http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=342894).

Went wheeling in Huntsville a weekend or two ago. The little mudpit wasn't so little and I got some funny pictures of it.

It was my first time out with the new tires and it was so much better than before. But damn my mileage around cstat sucks now. Highway is ok.

I hired somebody to build me some tube bumpers next week so that'll be really cool to get those on.

Yeah I liked this one for the rear:

and something like this for the front:

Got the new bumper on there. It's pretty simple but I like it.

http://i.imgur.com/Gm1mH9ql.jpg

The kid who welded it said he'd add a skid plate once he's got some left over sheet metal.

I also recharged my AC and my engine keeps overheating when it's hottest out now that I've got the AC on. My coolant looks pretty nasty so I'm going to do a flush and also add an aux fan to my radiator. Of course I had the bumper welded on though, and now it will be a bitch to get to the radiator with the bumper in the way. I'll also have to move the transmission cooler over to make room.

Also my right hub keeps exploding on me.

Weirdest thing, it's happened twice now. I was climbing and whenever I put some gas into it, it just blew up. Sparling suggested it could be the u joints so I'll check that out.

Sparling

I had a bad axle shaft u joint and a unit bearings on that side when my hub blew up. I replaced both on the same day so it could have been either one or the combination of the two. I would put in both u joints on that side and repack the bearings and make sure they are tight when you put it back together.

I'll give it a shot. That u joint will probably be a pain to get to. Are unit bearings another word for wheel bearings or is that something different?

It's something different ( and more expensive) you have wheel bearings

Sparling
07-17-2013, 02:44 AM
There's 2 u joints on that side since you have ttb. I'm pretty sure on the inner one you have to remove a c clip inside the diff but the outside u joint should just require taking the spindle off and sliding the shaft out. In case you haven't noticed, there's 4 shafts on the passenger side of the diff.

Did a coolant flush and bought a 11" fan to try and help with the overheating issue. I couldn't fit it directly over the rad but I could fit it over the transmission cooler stacked on the rad, so if I'm lucky it'll help cool both. I ended up using the relay and wiring from my old lights now that they're not hooked up anymore.

Mounted it on this ****ty little thing I put together.

http://i.imgur.com/2Yj5PPTl.jpg

We'll see tomorrow if it makes any difference when it's 100 degrees and I crank the AC.

Pretty sure this is the first thing I've done to my truck where nothing went horribly wrong haha. I guess I'm getting better.

I'm gonna take a look at replacing those u joints this weekend.

Sparling

Brazos valley driveline has spice u joints if you care, otherwise i have had good luck with moog parts

gleslie
07-22-2013, 08:31 AM
The fan didn't do anything to help so I returned it, I replaced my thermostat and I think that helped the overheating but I won't really know until it's hot again.

I checked my u joints and they actually seem ok, I didn't notice any play. I took my hub apart and regreased and retorqued everything, Maybe my spindle nuts on the manual conversion may have been loose? I guess I'll find out.

compression check, if it passes, replace radiator

gleslie
08-07-2013, 10:50 AM
I replaced the fan clutch and that solved my overheating problems.

I also had the same kid who did my bumper make me some tube doors:

http://i.imgur.com/Z0FnSI4l.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/u0Eg1dql.jpg

I'm pretty happy with them. I got some mirrors on them, and this weekend I'm going to figure out some kind of latch mechanism for them, and paint them with the same rubberized coating I used everywhere else.

Also, I moved in to a new house with Colbie (silverado) and he brought a little harbor freight welder so I'm going to get used to that and eventually weld some light bar brackets on my bumper as my first project.

Rear differential is clunking and starter died. My neighbor Dave has the exact same 8.8 sitting at home and was kind enough to donate it so I'm planning on swapping the new one in spring over axle once I have some time.
