I'm looking at this truck as a yard truck. What are some things to look for? Common problems? It is a regular cab dual rear tires. Has welding flatbed.

Auto or stick? If it's an auto, test drive the **** out of the transmission. 4r100s don't last long in stock form behind a higher mileage diesel.

Just make sure you run the transmission through everything first. Is it an early 01? It might have the mechanical diode in the transmission which wears out prematurely and you will lose 2nd gear. I think any build date after april of 01 is fine. Otherwise, buy it, change the oil often and it'll last you another 100k at least. Are you buying from a dealer? If so make them give you an oasis report for free.

Got it from a guy. It runs really good. Nice welder bed on it. Paid 8,800. I don't think it was a bad deal. Brand new turbo on it and newish tires

Why does it have a new turbo on it with 140k miles? Mine had 260+ and would still rip ship on the stock turbo

Seal went out and he chose to replace it not to have any down time. Truck was in service. Plus it was a CP&L truck before so I'm thinking high hours low miles.

If you plan on keeping the truck a while, I'd also change the top end oil too. It'll make the injectors last longer.

+1 to what sparling said about the injectors. buddy of mine just replaced his and said that the PO not changing the oil is what caused them to go bad.
