Found another 86 on CL the other day up in Marble Falls. I showed up and the guy has a stable full of ****ty big Broncos. Pretty interesting character. First thing he wanted to do was lock the hubs and climb some ****. Everything worked well enough. A/C blows cold for now. There is a title issue, but I think I can make it work.

The drivetrain is exactly like Swamp Donkey. 302/AOD/1354/8.8 Interior is same. Only difference is the baby blue.

Plans.

Cut/turned beams up front
Fox 5.0s
40s
Deavers. DEAVERS BRO!
Get rid of EFI and go with a carb
super light weight wheels
swap in a ZF
25 mpg

Just ****ing kidding. :flipoff2: Why the **** would I do that. I am not bombing up and down a Texas beach with a fishing pole. Don't need all that

Real Plans:
-New or newer 31s or 32s. I think I might keep the wagon wheels and just get proper center caps.
-Head unit
-winch for the Warn classic up front
-all the basic tune up stuff/fluids
-most of the weatherstripping is toast, so some replacements for at least the door windows
-tailgate has typical rust, not sure what I will do there, maybe just **** it.
-remove top, create kayak rack and/or research what softops for big broncos go for currently.
-small PS leak
-needs new rear bumper as it did not come with one. Factory chrome through JBG is cheap

Biggest issue is the transmission. It shifts very smoothly 1-3, but does not like to stay in OD.

I saw this, you know, just in case the title issue doesn't pan out or you decide you really need the original color combo.

I just realized you're up to 4 fully functional four-wheel drives now

Sweet, I like your original bronco paint scheme more than this one, but it seems like something to have fun with. Sounds like you are going to keep it stock height and reasonable changes. I often think if I had a DD Bronco like that one what I would do. My only consideration would be a limited slip or some sort of locker in the rear. The 8.8 is plenty strong to handle this with 31 or 32's and it makes a huge difference in the sand, etc...

JB, in his natural habitat.

I was reading the first post thinking WTF, then I read "Get rid of EFI and go with a carb" and just started laughing. Nicely done.

There was a company on fullsizebronco last year who came out with a soft top. From what I hear they're pretty decent quality, around $500 if I remember correctly. No big name companies make them.

The two options available on bronco graveyard look like crap

You can have my soft top, it's black though. You can always use it as a template to have one made. I also have all the d*ck cepek brackets from my lift.

For sure, Ill take it.

I got new BFGs put on it, along with proper center caps. Looks good.

I got a bumper from the junkyard yesterday, but it has truck brackets, and I need Bronco brackets to mount it. It has a pre 90 tire carrier that is missing all the parts to mount the tire. I picked up a 90+ carrier today off CL, but looks like I need the 90+ tailgate latch.

I got a basic Kenwood head unit with BT installed too.

The front bumper needs some work, and I am not sure it is a Warn.

The front brakes locked up, so I put new calipers/pads on it. Repacked bearings, new shocks. Changed oil. Degreased years of ****. Looking for pS leak

Still needs alot of little things, but it is fun to drive, at least up to 55. I am hoping the transmission issue is just a TV cable issue.

What's wrong with the bumper?

I love this project. Makes me want a Bronco again. Only if I didn't already have 5 vehicles at the house.

Updated pic with the new tires and back center caps. Still waiting on the front caps.

Finally got a rear bumper on it after multiple junkyard trips for the right brackets.

Below you can see that the bumper has had some rigging. The top plates look to have been cut out of something other than what was there originally. The factory rear bumper is chrome diamond tread, so I will probably cut out something similiar and replace the odd rough cut chrome stuff that is there.

It needs a winch, but not a modern looking winch. An 8274 would look cool, but they seem to be expensive.

The factory console has 1" deep cup holders, which is unacceptable. Installed my stainless boat cupholders from the old Bronco.

Jeffs Bronco Graveyard has way less stuff then they use to. I ordered a free LMC catalog for it and will order weatherstripping and a few other exterior and interior trim parts.

I also got it inspected today. Going to the title office sometime next week and see what kinda ordeal I am in for in getting a bonded title. I think I read somewhere that it has to appraise for over maybe 4000? That could be an issue. We'll see.

It doesn't have to appraise for more than 4k, but if it doesn't then they use blue book value instead of what it's actually worth. I went through that with a mustang my grandpa bought. You'll need to get a signed appraisal (some might try to charge you, we found someone to do it for free), go to a bondsman and pay them for the bond, a bill of sale, and give all of your paperwork to the title office. It was a huge pain in the ass when we did it mainly because the title office was 40 minutes from my grandparents house and the people in the title office were incompetent and couldn't figure out what we needed. The title office is on your side of town so it shouldn't be too much running around for you.

Then in I think 2 years if nobody has reported it stolen and nobody claims it as theirs then you get a blue title.

It looks to me like a warn M8000, or 9000 would fit in that bumper and you would not even see it.

Let me look but I think I hung on to all the weather stripping from my bronco when I parted it out. It was all replaced shortly before I parted it out so in great condition. If I have it, you can have it for free.

Don't forget to check rock auto, they have a lot of weatherstripping and trim parts.

Call these guys for a bonded title. They handle basically everything.

Shop said it nees to be torn down or replaced. Quoted 2600 for a rebuilt one with 3 year warranty. That is obviously not going to happen.

Can the tailhousings swap easily between 2 and 4wds? That would open my search up. http://austin.craigslist.org/pts/4590619250.html

Sparling

Pretty sure you have to pull it all the way apart to swap the tail shaft. C6s and e4od/4r100s are that way.

I've seen a lot of these around.

Or an astg manual and a rebuild kit if you're feeling froggy.

Not nearly as bad. Ill keep it in mind. Still would rather spend less than $500

Also, anyone have any 80-96 Bronco tire carriers?
