Like the title says. Need some opinions, pros and cons cause I'm 50/50 about both. Regardless of what i get ill be getting a 2.5 or 3 inch lift, rock sliders, 33s or 35s and new fender flares all within about a year of getting it. Then after a year some new bumpers and a winch. Will be a daily driver but will go through some mud but more crawling though.

Yep, four door. May be our next vehicle purchase if we don't get a four door truck. (Step-daughter is already almost 6' at 13yo, so she is going to need plenty of leg room and her youngest brother will probably be even taller as their dad is 6' 9".)

Any other mods and parts i should consider besides the ones I listed?

I would take new fender flares off the list. Look into true replacement fenders or hi-lines to increase the wheel well size and keep the lift as minimal as possible. The new trend is for minimal lift, maximum body clearance and large tires. JBs jeep is a good example of what you may want.

JK hoods are higher no need for High line. most people just cut the existing fenders on JKs also and don't replace. 4 door is the way to go. If you really want a 2 door I have a friend here with a really nice 2 door he is going to trade for a 4 door. The 4 door seats 5 while the 2 door only does 4. You get a lot of storage space in the back also. The wheelbase is 116 which is a little on the longer side but it makes the pucker factor go way down with big inclines. You will know the first day you own a JK that the hood latches are crap and the hood looks like it is going to rip off. Drake Off-Road Hood Latches fix the problem and are a must. You can run 37" tires with no lift on a JK with only cutting the fenders FYI. The build on mine isn't far at all yet. I am collecting parts right now but will be running 42s with less than 4" lift.

I'm probably a purist because of my CJ, but when i buy a jeep after graduation its going to be a 2dr LJ. I want the wheelbase, but dont want 4 doors. It also wont be a DD.

How is does it do on the highway? Like going up steep hills and inclines. Back when you first got it with and without a lift if you have one

Mine is stock still. I have had it maybe a month. Does fine on highway. 85 no problem. You start having power issues when putting bigger tires on without gearing. If you are just wanting 33" tires you don't have to worry about anything. JKs look dumb with any kind of lift and only 33s. The fenders allow for much bigger tires and it makes the tires look tiny. Especially if you are going with anything other than factory fenders.

Everyone loves LJs. They come with a big price tag.

So staying stock on 35s would be fine. But would I get rubbing at all with or without 1-1.5 inch spacers?

Yeah, I'm aware. I'm willing to pay that price.

They might rub a little offroad. I have seen lots of people wheel them stock with 35s and they don't have problems.

2dr.

Smittybilt? You going to get some tube bumpers also? :flipoff2: Seems like alot better options than that.

No lift and big tires is the way to go..

Sliders are probably one of the easiest things to fabricate. Even for a novice, it should be an easy enough project.

Mine are built from 2"x2"x 1/4" wall square tubing. BTW, i just caught on that you were talking about sliders for a JK (not your Ranger). Honestly, for a JK, I would probably buy them too (just wouldn't be from smittybuilt).

haha nah the ranger will either be sold, sold to family who needs a car for a bit, or just left at home when the Rubicon is bought.
But I guess ACE with the stock rubi rails would be good for nothing too extreme yet

You will need to truss the axles if you plan on running them. The bend very easily.

For light stuff you will be fine. But if you plan on doing anything hard you need to add support to the axle to keep it from bending. Look up trussed Dana 44
