I did everthing as cheaply as I could without buying crappy parts - I would question anyone who says they can build a rig cheaper than that.

All those $30 stops at the parts store add up quick...

Just wait for my $700 budget axle swap. I think that is a decent amout for having new brakes and a rebuilt axle.

sounds about right depending on the price of the axle - I guess no Longfields or spare parts, stock gears and welded diff?

Me guessing...
$250 axle
$110 rebuild kit for axle, reuse hub bearings
$220 for crossover steering arms
$50 steel
$15 supplies - paint, grinding discs, welding wire, gas etc...
$50 for some cheap junkyard leafs
$30 for decent new bushings
$40 for cheap brake lines
$40 for cheap shocks
$120?? for new brake calipers and pads
$60 for u-bolt kit
$?? pitman arm
$200~$54 ea for GOOD rod ends
Thats $1185 but I think you got the axle much cheaper and am not sure what you are doing for the steering.

Keep us informed:D

I have the exact numbers at home. I won't include the 2nd axle that was free....

Me guessing... ***** Actual
$250 axle ***** 240
$110 rebuild kit for axle ***** 105
$220 steering arms ***** modify old ones
$50 steel ***** 50
$15 supplies ***** paint - 15 rest paid for by work
$50 junkyard leafs ***** free with free 2nd axle
$30 new bushings ***** reusing until buy bew springs
$40 brake lines ***** don't know - 40
$40 cheap shocks ***** shocks?
$120?? calipers and pads ***** 130
$60 for u-bolt kit ***** 60
$?? pitman arm ***** modify mine
$200~$54 ea for GOOD rod ends ***** bought 6 (2 spare) at ~$17 each 20 something k tinsile strenght
$1185 ***** ROUGHLY 725 to date

I'm going to have the Hy-Steer arms made by my machinist friend for much cheaper than all pros price, but I can't use them until I have at least 3 or 3.5" of lift.

scott, add the price of the plasma cutter, welder, all the tools used also, cause my rig, nowhere near as capable, has only cost me about $3000 including the price of the jeep

but add the welder, band saw, grinder, and just tools in general, the price jumps rapidly, i know you can reuse the tools many times, so they pay for themselves, but not everyone has access to that stuff

Very true - the only special things that I had to buy for this truck was a double flare tool, and the tubing bender - they are broken out in the cost breakdown...
