I'm going to order a fuel cell pretty soon, and i was wondering what ya'll opinions on them are, should i get the drag style one w/ the sump or a circle track style w/ the pickup tube?

I know jason larman just got one of the cheapies and all he has is a fuel hose going into the bottom with a filter on the end. It works really well because the hose moves so when you are on a hill or something it is always in the deepest spot.

the only thing i dont like about them. they seem to be kinda small gallon wise. It would suck to drive around on a 12 gallon gas tank. My bronco would use that up in a second.

I've heard the one's with bladders in them are good. Even if you puncture the outer tank, the bladder still holds the gas. Also ensures you always have fuel!

you can get anywhere from 1 gallon up to i think 32 gallon fuel cells, so thats not the issue, its the design, should it have a pickup line from the top or a sump where it feeds in the bottom

I would definitely want a sump in it if I were putting one in an offroad rig.

I hear a plastic outboard boat tank works pretty good huh Ritchie? The guage is built right in, ease of installation...

after some thought, i think the drag one would be better, just face the sump toward the back, so long as i have more than a 1/4 of a tank, it should be fine, i'm probably goin to order one this week, anyone got any good leads

David and I both had ours made by Johnny at RCI. I had baffles instaled in mine and put the fuel pump in it myself. They cut the hole, I drilled and tapped the holes to mount the flange.

how much did those cost?
and i'm running an external fruel pump, so i won't need the custom job, and if i decide to tube the back of it, then i'll just work around it, not that big a deal

i just made my own gas tank. i took a bronco tank. cut a hole in the top and put a mustang baffle inside it. then made the pickup in the baffle and put the return line in the baffle. so you get a constant supply of fuel. then welded it back up and used some sealer stuff. my pump is outside the tank. it works like a champ. the only draw back you can hear the fuel pump running. not that bad though.

Also i since i have a body lift i moved the tank 2.5 inches up. I have yet to hit on something. I did this for about $100 just cause i needed a new tank.

a new fuel cell, the ones i'm lookin at anyway, are only like $115, and i don't have to worry about the coating on the inside of the tank, or it rusting, or any of that crap, i just thing this is a better deal for me

ours were over $300 but made from Aluminum. Plastic ones suck, they always deform and look like crap
