i found an old 3/4 ton ford (not exactly in running condition) that my dad and i want to restore. It's up in Nebraska though. My dad has a 4.7L Tundra. Think it could pull that thing if it were on a trailer? If not, i could talk my brother into letting me borrow his 5.9L Dodge, but the Tundra is more readily available. Any feedback would be very helpful. Also, see my tranny question as well on the other thread.

Thanks,

Well I know at work, we had a guy bring in 57hp tractor with his Tundra and he said that he pulled it alright but I think the trailor kinda pushed him around a lot. He said it was fine for trips that werent really long, but Nebraska would be a pretty good drive.

how does a 57hp tractor compare to an old 3/4 ton in weight?

Well the tractor weighs approxiamately 3,858 kgs. I dont really know what that is in pounds but maybe somebody on here knows how to convert that stuff.

3858 * 2.2 = ~8500 lbs. Plus trailer..... I'll bet that is more than the Tundra is rated at.

Kowalski's Tundra tops at around 7000. He pulled his Waggy and a heavy ass trailer to TCC no problem. That was probably around 6500 total trailer weight.

i know for a fact that you can pull a heavy ass uhaul trailer and a chrysler fifth ave (you may have seen one of these in the bomber car races at your local demolition derby) with a chevy minivan and krebs dad pulls a tractor with their minivan so i dont think that a tundra would have a problem as long as you have a good trailer....

the tundra is rated for 7200. the truck is a 1969 f 250 single cab w/o an engine. Not sure how much that would weigh, or how much a trailer weighs.

i wouldn't worry about it... i have towed over weight lots of times and it has only ended up bad once... becides the drive back from nebraska is easy... it isnt stop and go at all... you can set the cruze control and leave it there for litterally hours

My parents tundra never had a problem with towing, and we had it overloaded many times. But like everything else, if you overload it you're taking your chances. I once saw a guy tow a M715 with 44's on it behind a tundra. Those things are beasts, but when i stopped to ask him how it did, he said the tundra just laughed at it.

Thats gonna be too much weight for the tundra... it'll probably pull it alright but anytime you've gotta be on the breaks, that load will take you all over the road.
I'd get the dodge. that'd be a long ass trip home

if nick's 6 cyl. jeep can tow his truck when he got a flat tire, anything is possible, but then again, he was less than 50 miles away.

I don't know that you would exactly call that a successful tow. At any rate his jeep did get him home.

i dont think its a good idea cause the bronco pushes around the f250 sometimes.

get the 5.9 its alot safer
