I saw an old truck on the side of the road with swampers so I decided to look at it.

77 chevy 3/4 ton, 350/400/205, d60 front, 14 rear, on 38.5 radials i think.

Called the guy, says yeah it was my sons, he's going through a divorce. I lent him $6000 and I got this truck. He says it's got that dana 60 in the front and rear and the front has all new seals. Said he's asking $3000, but he would take $2500. He said that without me even saying it was too much. So I figure I could get it for 2250 or maybe 2000. The guy has no idea how many miles are on it.

From what I can tell it was built to be a mud truck and is all mis matched. No 3/4 came with a D60. Body is in bad shape. So lets go through what it would be worth to me. I'd sell the 400/205 to recoupe money. D60 also has a raised steering block.

The main reason in buying this is to make the blazer half way into a respectable vehicle. Rob the d60 front and the tires.

So lets break this down.

Engine - It runs. $100 maybe 200? Id sell it
400/205 - looks like the lowest people pay is around $500 anyone know if this price is right?
D60 - I wouldn't pay more than $500 for one so thats how much it's worth to me.
Tires - cost 301 a piece new, I'll give him 500
14 bolt - 150
Steering wheel $50?

I need some of this **** for the buggy anyways, 14 bolt, steering wheel. What else would I need for the buggy that might be on this truck?? What else could I part out?

That makes this truck worth about $2000 to me.

I'd sell the 10 bolt **** off the blazer, might get me 200.

What else can I part out or use on this truck??

Maybe the lift?? It's at least 8" I have no idea. maybe 200?

As far as the 205/400 getting $500 is high. I do not know about 400's or a chevy 205 but I just sold a ford 205 on ebay for $71 and a rebuilt c-6 for $50. This summer I sold a T-18 with a low 1st gear and a 205 for $200.

$2 G's for a parts truck seems like quite the hefty investment to me for what little you get out of it. I wouldnt buy it.

The 400/205 is pretty rare. The 32 splined input on the 205 is worth $100 alone.

I'll let it sit for a while at the least.

It really only is worth 1500 to me. 500 for the tires, 500 for the D60, and 500 to sell the tcase and tranny

This could push back building the buggy though.

Man life sucks, I wish I was still in kindergarten playing in the sandbox!!!

If a 14 bolt is worth $150 to you I'll sell you mine.

Part out that 10 bolt. I got $127.50 on ebay for 4.10 gears with open carrier. You will probably get $300 for the gears and carrier. You can sell the 8 lug parts for $150-200 easily. I'd have had mine sold for $150 2 days after listing them if they were any good, and yours are in much better shape than I thought mine were in. Then for the shafts, they go for $40-$50 per side on ebay. Then you got axle tubes left over that would make nice drive shafts, or you could hit someone with em. Shoulda took my offer for $275 a few months ago.

What ya gonna do with 38.5s? Blazer? If so I might buy the BFGs off of it.

Maybe worth it to buy the truck, swap the 10 bolt and 35s from the blazer into it, and sell it. If you think you could get the same money back.

For most miscellaneous parts you'd take from that truck you can come down to Panna Maria and pull them for free.

Damn kopecki selling it with the 10 bolt and the 35's might not be a bad idea. I wonder how much someone would buy it for?

I have 2 old 35 BFG muds, if I could find 2 other older 35's then I could seel you the BFG's off my truck. I have cert's for them so you can get new tires for $30.

I could even find a ****tier Tranny and tcase combo to throw under it and get my money out of the 400/205.

I'm thinking there is no way he can get even 2000 for it. I'll take a picture of it tommorow maybe so ya'll can see it. It's a real **** box. I'll let him sit a month or so and offer him 1500 cash.

The only thing is it's big and white trash love that ****. I've got a 2wd 700R4 thats good. I could swap the internals into my raptors 4wd case and then find a 208 and slap it in there. I'm pretty sure I could sell it for at least 1500 then.

So I went and looked at it again. Has suspension and body lift, I figured as much. Hasn't been inspected or registered since 2001. Doesn't look as bad as I thought, but the rockers definately have alot of cancer and so does one of the doors. This makes me suspect most of the body has been gone over with bondo. Has dual saddle tanks.

My plan is to let him sit for a couple weeks, then offer him a low ball of like 1500 to 2000 and see what he says.

I think that it is all a matter of how much trouble you want to go to. You can buy the truck, and with enough dissassembly, get some good parts, sell some others, and make some cash in the process. It is just a matter of doing it.
