Looked at some online during lunch, and the Maxon MCB-30 looks to be about the right size and price.
Anybody have suggestions/preferences?
Experience with this particular one?

I have 2 MCB45Ws and I really like them. I do listen to the weather sometimes. RF gain is helpful as well. They were/are $70 at Wally World.

Mine is 40 channel Cobra that I got for 33 bucks off of ebay (brand new). Search for the one you want there first, because there are some pretty good deals.
