I guess they don't have a limit on vehicles on this thing? I gotta see how the school or job situation turns out. They're requesting registration before July 3 so I'll have everything figured out by then.

I'm in, tentatively at least. I don't have anything on the calendar that weekend and my DC trip got moved to September, so I could take a few days off.

Ouch, that is at least 1000mi from BCS though! Though if Mark can make it from DC (1800 miles) then I can swing it. I would definitely want a few passengers though the way gas prices are now. I can take 6 passengers in the burban and 3 passengers on the trail. I don't even mind giving up some trail driving time to experienced folks if you help with costs. I will need to beg/borrow a trailer though - I definitely am not taking the one I did this past weekend this far.

At first I was thinking we could leave thursday AM and wheel Friday & Saturday, but with that distance, I think we should try to make 3 days of wheeling, by leaving by at least mid day on Weds.

If we can find a big non-gooseneck trailer with brakes that would fit both vehicles, I am game.

Not a problem. Just pickup a 30' bumper pull. :)

stinger7401
06-02-2004, 05:46 PM
ok so im still tossin this idea around but you can bet if C.S fuel is at $2.00 then fuel in Colorado is prolly 2.50. This is whats really pushin me away from goin. I had a lot of **** planned but the 8 tickets in 6 months and rising fuel costs have put a dent in my trip funds. If anyone is still planning of going lets get things ironed out.

8Runner
06-02-2004, 05:52 PM
I'm definitely game if I can find at least a few people to ride along and help with gas costs. If I could find a two vehicle bumper pull trailer to borrow, that would make things even cheaper for me and another driver (Lissa?).

Scott what are you doing that weekend?
I did start the thread...
So far, the interested parties:
Scott + 1 (married)
Troy + 1 (married)
Chris + 1 (married)
David + 1 (needs to be married)
Shipman if David goes (that's a long drive - we're not expecting him...)
Brandon (will never get married)
Lissa (??????)
Nick - broke
Matt C. What is he doing?

How I see it working - Troy and I pull two rigs, Chris and David pull two rigs, Brandon drives, Lissa and Nick get Burbach to pull. We leave on Wednesday, try to make it back by sunday night.

What do ya'll think? :texas:

What time do you think ya'll would leave on Wednesday? I am thinking we either leave early and get there in time to sleep or leave late & get there in time to wheel early in the AM (sleep in the car). It looks like about a 16 hour drive from CS anyway, is that right?

I got a 24' goosneck at my disposal and possibly a truck but not countin on it, so if burbachs game i am and bi*ch im not broke no more :D me gots cash, the kind only Italians can get -pimp- . Anyways, I'm gonna go one way or the other, I have tossed the idea around for taking my dads van (pimper than the old brune ride, its got a super nintendo oh yeh baby), and if no one wants to go with me i'v got a really good friend with a sweet plane that would prolly be more than willing to fly up there. So I am gonna go come hell or high water. Mainly to represent Tamor at the meeting (one of our goals for the new regime)

What's the matter Scott, that trailer weighing the ol' Cummins down? :flipoff2:

You pull an overloaded truck/trailer combo over mountain passes and see how you like it (going down is just as hard as going up). I am sure that I have done it many more times than you have and I don't like to push my truck any harder than I have to... :flipoff2: Anybody with their right mind would drop a few thousand pounds if they were planning on mountain passes and they had the option to do so.

You going to bring the Mazda up?

Even if the truck is ready, that's probably a bit far for my current budget. I'm only getting 15 hours/week at work this first session.

I do have 2 empty seats at the moment, but I am really looking for a person or two to ride up from CS (or Dallas) with me, so we can share gas costs. I would even consider waiting until Wednesday night instead of going to Dallas on Tuesday if that would work better for someone.

I can take 2 more in the 4runner on the trail if you are willing to share riding in the backseat sometimes, and 4 in the suburban (very comfortably) on the way up.

Well, I am sort of looking at this as good news because of my continued overheating problems, but some of you may not be looking forward to this.

It is currently 46 in Fairplay. The high for the days we are there is 61 and some days the high tops out at 56! Lows overnight go down to 35! Unfortunately it also looks to be rainy as well as scattered T-storms are predicted every day.

Anyway, plan accordingly, and Lyssa, if you end up camping - at least find some warm guy to cuddle with.
