Does anybody know anything about this tranny? I've got a line on a late 70's F-250 with a 460, C6 auto, and NP205 with a 44 up front and 60 rear. I'm thinking swap the engine, trans, and t-case into Diya's Scout with the 60's I got in Michigan and sell off the 44/60 from the F-250 along with everything else. Also, the 304 (in pieces), trans, t-case, and hard top from the Scout will be on the block. Any takers?

I've heard good things about the C6, but I don't have any experience with them. Anyone have any first-hand knowledge/experience with them? How durable they are? Problems? Can you get a manual valve body for them?

Thanks in advance for the info.

The C6 is very strong. This is what is in my '78 bronco. I added a B&M shift kit when I had the tranny rebuilt. The C6 does not have a very low 1 st gear but it is one of the strongest automatics made. Many large Mud trucks use these with high horsepower engines. There is also several places that make upgrades for these tranny so they can be used in some pro mud trucks and small monster trucks.

That hole set up you would havee is very heavy. The 460, 205, and C6 are the heavest engine, tranfer case, and tranny other then 2.5 ton equipment. You will get a good work out moving all that stuff includiing the D60 axles.
