Would Toyota axles hold up to 39" Krawlers on AL rims? Anybody here of people running them on Toy axles? It would be on the Patrol if ya'll were wondering about weight?

what ever happened to that 60 front you had scott? or are you wanting to stay with the lightweight axles?

I wheeled with a FJ-40 at the LSCR in Katemcy that was running 42s on stock axles. He had longfields and cromo axles in the front. I believe that you can get mini truck cromos for the rear too. I think they would do fine as long as you don't get happy with the throttle to often.

Have you watched Scott wheel? :D

since you're running the FJ-80 front, they may be fine. How heavy of tire are they? I know more and more people are starting to run the 39.5 iroks with mini truck axles, and they are surviving for the most part. Your 80 is a step above that, so it shouldn't be to bad. Check out the runner at this site www.offroadsolutions.com. He's running 42's on yota axles

Since its an 80 front I don't think that they have longfields or any other type of ____field for them. It might be possable to get the smurf'd or I've noticed on Pirate that a guy can cryo (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=256137) them for pretty cheap in the venders section.

yeah, Scott's are treated.
plenty of people are running those tires with longs and chromos and all 4 cylinders. Do it, you'll be fine.

But isn't the rear axle just a plain v6 rear with spacers to put extra stress on it? Can you get bigger shafts for it?

yep, mallpro offers chromos.
why weren't you at the chikin tonight?

It does not matter what size tiers he is running, anything can brake. I am running 35s BFG KM and have broke 2 stock berfilds, 2 longfields, 1 inner front shaft, a rear shaft, a detroit and 4 ring and pinions. All withen a year. Scott has broke lots of thing in the past aswell.

I'm with busa. Get'em, and if the breakage begins to outwiegh the bonuses of running that size, change. And you can get a longfield version of the FJ80 axle. The rear axle is pretty damned strong for its size.

If the spacers start causing problems, replace it with a taco axle (wider than ifs rear axles). I think you can take the housing of one that was meant to be used with the electric locker, and your third should bolt in with minor mods (if any?). Another wierd option I've been thinking about is this: FROR makes a kit to turn the rear axle into a full floater, using the hubs and **** off the front of a standard toy straight axle. Well, some people (like busa) made spacers to adapt the ifs hub in place of the straight axle hub on the front axle. This adds three inches of width making it match the ifs rear axle. So why couldn't you with a little bit of mods, use the ifs hubs on the rear axle, in conjunction with a full floater? You would gain you another three inches of width, which should be a good match for the FJ-80 axle, plus a stronger full floater axle. With access to a machine shop, I don't see why it would be hard to build for a lot less than the kits out there.

Scott does have longfield in his FJ80 axle.

Kind of a pricy decesion...

yes, I have longfields but I wheel pretty hard. I love the height of the 39's but for my driving style I think that the 37's might do me better. If I went to the 39's I think that I would go with a 35 spline D60 all the way out. I watched Troy break a 35 spline shaft with the 39's and I don't see my 30 spline shafts holding up - even if they are cromo... Thoses tires get some serious traction (at least the red labels do)

the shafts might hold up but that wild steering setup might not like to turn them in a bind.

I bid on some H2 take offs with the tires for Cody...
