What 4 spd tranny came in a 3/4 ton (one-ton?it has 8 lugs) '74-'76 chevy PU? Is it an SM465? what's the low gear? There's one sitting at the farm that is my uncle's and I may pull it out. It's 2wd but I'm going to have to do some custom adapters and output shaft work anyways to mate up my LR t-case. I'm going down there tommorrow. anyway to tell for sure? He has a '91 GMC 3/4 ton with a four speed also. Is this the same tranny?

Maybe I don't need any fancy adapters!

It should be a SM465. There are ways to identify them on Novak's (http://www.novak-adapt.com) website.

A '91 GMC with a 4 speed would be an auto. By that time I think they had started putting NV4500s in them.

No, it's a 4 speed manual. according to the Novak website that was the last year for 465's. Probably a rare option for that year?

Another question. what does anyone know about Ranger Overdrives? How much do they cost?

edit: In the '91 GMC it has to be a 465, b/c I remember the shifter was marked with L 1 2 3
