Wow. That was a cool looking rig. Why all of the changes? I guess I can see the seats, locker/weld, and fuel injection, but doesn't it have rocker protection and did you just not like the paint job or what? How long until you get it trail ready?

J Cooper

the rockers were gay.... they were like 16 guage alum. not fuctional, and yeah just didnt like the paint job... needed to fix alot of ghetto body work anyways so were were gonna have to strip down alot of the paint anyways

oh and here are the colors, found them on this bike while searching the net for the colors

most of the jeep will be that blue color, with the green a green and white graffic, roll bar and bumpers, sliders, rims in black

Orange! I like that orange color you see on chevy PU's every once in a while. I've seen one in BCS before. I don't know if it is a factory W color or what..But I like them. I also like the color that the Land Rover G4 challenge trucks are painted. Kind of an earthy color. I'll find a pic and post. Looks good w/ black wheels, graphics, etc.
Where did you get and what kind of stripper did ya'll use. That stuff does look like it kicks ass. I need some for the old LR.

aircraft stripper is whats its called... it took awhile on cjs cause he had like 15000 layers of paint, but on the white truck it took me like 5 mins last night to strip that bed, came off it sheets with a 5 in 1 tool. it got dark so i left the parts in all the tight spots, but if you have a pressure washer you can pretty much paint it on drink a beer and then spray it right off... we got it at this paint shop in bryan but i think lowes or oreileys would have a similar brand

have you tried a scout bellhousing they came with 304's and t18's. they couldve been some oddball ih bolt pattern though.

IH 304 is not an amc engine, so that won't work.

He needs a 76 to 86 bellhousing and a tap. that older body style cj5 uses a wierd shaped pattern on the t14/t15 that I don't think anyone else used.

thats what we got, we got the bellhousing from landons 79 304 and all the wholes are like half and inch off, it doesnt line up even close
and the bellhousing doesnt even look close to fiting it right
???????

Well, as long as the bearing retainer hole is the right size, just drill all the holes. That's what I did on mine, cause I don't know of an amc to dodge bellhousing. I just set the bellhousing one there like it's supposed to be, then shot some paint through the holes, and drilled in the middle of the dot.

So, I think I remember it driving to a mall last week, and now the bellhousing is wrong. I think I'm being confused.

negative, the wholes will overlap and make a bunch of 8 shaped wholes

what is this t18 out of? I'm guessing a ford since you bought an adapter. Landon's should have been the t150 3 speed bellhousing and its the same as a ford t18.

jeep t18 is a little different, but I helped a friend swap his in and he had to drill 1 hole. you got any pics of the mating surfaces?

so, use grade 8 bolts :gigem:

got the floor and fenders done, mounted the jerry cans, tool box and fuel cell and got the old trans dropped with the new one torn down ready to put back together, and the flywheel resurfaced... only problem we ran into is that the throw out bearing that came with the 304 clush is just a little to small to fit onto the t-18 so we will have to find one

update, page 7 and 8 (http://www.tamor.org/members-rigs/album54?page=7)

At the very worst, you can take it down to a welding shop and have it TIGed back together. Probably cost $50 or so.

CJ4
10-05-2004, 02:24 PM
