are those the radial IROKs?... them are some bad doods
you may be the first person to drive on a set of those in the club... but i will always be the first one to have a set... aka i win

Nah, they are the bias...I couldn't really see paying the almost extra 50% per tire for the radials right now. From what I was reading on the 36s, it really didn't seem to make that much differance as far as milage. Guys with heavier rigs then mine were getting around 25k+ out of the bias, and since I hardly drive it anymore and still pretty light, that should easily last me a few years.

from what i have heard with these 39.5's they are getting almost twice the mileage out of the radials... so i spent the extra $100/tire

yea I didnt see anything like that on the 36s, who knows...I might be kicking myself in the ass in few years...but even if they only last me 2-3 yrs I'll be happy and that dosen't seem like it'll be too hard to do

the best part was that just as we got the last wheel off and the truck was levitating on jackstands, my old landlord's husband drove by waving and laughing

Why do we have to max the upload limit with pictures that have nothing to do with anything offroad http://tamor.org/forums/showthread.php?t=4706

So...what would you guess the life of 39.5 IROK Radials is?

15-25k

I dunno it seems like super swamper's radials last a little longer than that. I have TSL radials on my burb and have about 8000 miles on them and very little wear. They have suprised me in that regard. I dunno if the IROKs would be any different, because it is a little more aggresive tire, but I guess time will tell.

Shaggy

well 39.5" tires wear a bit faster than 36" tires

My 38" TSL radials supposedly have about 40K street miles on them, and still got about 30% left.

Nice..I know what my next tires are gonna be. :gigem:

How do 39.5s wear faster than 36s when their circumference is greater and thus there is more tire to wear?

StevenAg03
10-13-2004, 12:42 PM
well...the kanuter valve effect plays heavily on them.. :flipoff2: ...i would agree that the 39's wear faster...heavier tire, more rolling mass...

i dont really care how long they last... i have put less than 14k miles on my bronco in the past 5 years

then wouldnt a bais ply have been better for you tate the tires might start to dry rot or something before they even get worn, thats why i went with the 38 tsl bias cause i knew i wouldnt be putting lots of miles on them. a friend of mine ran some 38.5 tsl bias and got like 20 or so outof them and currently has the radials now and thiinks they are prolly like 30 % easier on tire life

Shaggy
10-13-2004, 04:52 PM
maby but i have them and they are paid for so i dont really care... it will be a long time before i have to buy another set for the bronco... although i do need a set of tires for the f150 now... one of em is really bad... it might be time to throw the spare back on

heavier tire, more rolling mass...

I don't think that's the reason. I'm gonna guess that there's about the same amount of tread on the 36 and 39.5" IROKs. Just spaced wider apart on the bigger ones. Cause it doesn't seem like there's much rubber on Tate's tires, and I don't remember thinking that of the 36s I've seen.

Shaggy
10-13-2004, 07:21 PM
i think you might be right ryan... mine look farther apart than the smaller ones... i just went and comared a bfg km's softness to the irok and it is a world of difference... they are WAY softer.... which is good offroad... i dont care about the pavement anyways... it aint gonna be street legal
