Anybody got a cutting torch I could borrow on friday? I'll pay for the gas I use. Something tells me a chop saw isn't going to like 1/4" plate.

Are you cutting 1/4" flat bar or sheet? If you are cutting flat bar stand it up vertical and the chop saw will eat right through it. Always avoid cutting against flat surfaces if possible. If you cut angle iron, start with the vertex up "/\" If you cut flat bar, cut it like this "|" and not like this "_" I even cut square tubing while it is diagonal.

I've already made the trans case plate. I "borrowed" a oxy acetlyene rig from work. It didn't cut the 1/4 diamond tread plate I got very well but it worked. That plate is some nasty ****. I'm sure I'll think up a skid plate for something else though. i'll give ya a ring.
