why the hell is my intake manifold leaking antifreeze around the bolts? They didn't look like water passages when the heads were off.

Might explain some smoke

Did you have to thread seal yours?

hmm....I don't remember them running into coolant passages, but It makes sense. Put some teflon sealant on them and see what happens. What's the oil look like?

i know i dont have a scout but on fords the threads go into the waterways. i had a problem with that. I put the blue gasket sealer on the threads and it fixed it. they also make some thread sealer i think. I know chevys can leak oil from the intake for this reason as well.

Think it was an optical illusion, leaky hoses. thread sealed them anyway and the smoking seems to have lowered.

Found a short in the harness and the ignition switch plug was kind of melted. I'm hoping that it added enough resistance to make the efi **** up.

This might delay the master plan

scout engines will run forever, that or until you find a 5.3 for 50 bucks...

in all honesty (5.3l vortec) i think "the master plan" will work well (5.3l vortec) but there something about (5.3l vortec) going from what you've got, a v8, to what (5.3l vortec) you plan to go to that (5.3l vortec) defies logic. if you decide to change (5.3l vortec) your mind and need (5.3l vortec) some advice on what engine (5.3l vortec) you should go with just let me know (5.3l vortec) and ill be happy to share my (5.3l vortec) opinion with you.

actually thought about the rover engine for a brief second or 2, just need to get that range rover to 727 adapter plate :flipoff2:

that engine is ****ing shot, pissed the last 3 days away on it, finally did a comp. test and its no better than it was before I swapped heads.

Time to start taking stuff off of it.
