suburu makes sense to use in a buggy. lots of torque for the weight and size of the motor. I'd change out the turbo for a smaller one so it would spool up quicker. lowers the COG also.

the top pic is Walker Evans rig - I'm not sure what kind on engine he's running - might be an ecotec or something.

Yes, the bottom one is a WRX engine - over 400hp... Everything on that buggy is polished - EVERYTHING (even the Atlas). He said it took two full weeks of sanding and polishing to get that done.

that used to be an area called Seneca. I was born in Globe.

my dad used to supervise the cattle operation for the apaches.

I was born in Globe.

WOW! That's a pretty small town - what a small world... BTW, I loved that drive to phoenix, nice scenery. Since it had been raining all weekend there were HUGE beautiful waterfalls coming off the cliffs up and down that road. People were stopped off the roadway all over the place taking pictures and walking up the base of the falls. Pretty cool stuff.

I love the AZ desert but I'll be in Moab UT tonight - I like the redrock too... :gigem:
wish us luck in Moab :D

yeah, its actually a very interesting and historical part of AZ. If you ever get to see a movie called U-turn with Sean Penn, Nick Nolte, Jen Lopez, Joaquin Phoenix, theres a scene in there where we used to buy groceries in San Carlos and where i used to get a haircut in Globe back when i needed those little booster chairs. But its mostly based in Superior. To the west, you have hilly mountains and beautiful rivers and resiviours. And to the north, on the way to Show Low, theres the Salt River Canyon. And west towards phoenix you've got low canyon passes ending with a flat desert on the way there.

I've always wanted to go back to visit. Yale gave my sister a few thousand to study the culture there last semester. Hell, i know more Apache than i do Spanish. I'd sure love to go back, especially now that theres 4wheeling there.

Pics from today. RJ came out from Durango to take some pics. It rained in the morning, then sleeted while we were on B5, then snowed while we are on B1 today. We ended up getting 39's on three courses today but everybody was doing bad with the ****ty conditions. Some pics in the sleet from B5...
EDIT: Today we broke the front yoke and were able to fix it. Yesterday we rolled on A3 (steep downhill). Hal broke yesterday - stripped his rear D60 R&P on his last course. We fixed it that night for him. Hal also rolled once today.

I bet Troy loved watching you getting soaked and running and sliding all over the place while he sat with a little roof over his head :D
Weather looks like it sucked pretty bad

yeah...its about 30 miles from globe. Theres also lake superior about 4 miles out of town....it fills in one of those big huge canyons. They speak alot of spanish in the movie mainly because the audience is more receptive to it than apache.

i'm not a big fan of Oliver Stone's films but its alright.

Hey, just realized that was the new buggy instead of Hal's hand-me-downs. How'd it work?

Look again...I think it is Hal's. Talked to Lance at Sunray over the break and it sounds like the new buggy is still being put together.

oh...Hal's didn't have a hood when I saw it
I thought it only snowed in Moab when I visit. It's still fun tho...just spend more time at Eddie McStiff's

We took 14th place. Not bad considering it was the second time in that borrowed buggy that sucks...

We beat Hal by 46 points - not to mention Walker Evans, Shannan Cambell, Tony K, and Berger to name a few - all in a buggy that still has leaf springs inthe front. If you looks closely at the scores you will see that we beat many of the winners on B5 and A5. we rolled on A4 and broke on B4.
