well, after denting one of my fenders, and breaking both of my side markers, I have decided that I want to flatfender my TJ and make it look different than every other TJ with a lift and 33's. So, who wants to help me flatfender it. I was thinking about doing it next weekend because I am going to the beach this weekend for Easter

You want to make it look different so you're going to flat fender it?
:flipoff2:

I'm down for helping, I havent done chit on a vehicle since I changed my timing belt in december, and that was just a pita.

yes, that and I am going to relocate the side marker lights to ontop of the fender kinda like Joseph has on his Cruiser, Cause I have never seen that on a Jeep before. Plus I need more clearance because I keep on putting my tires into my fender and Iam in desperate need of some sort of triming

I have always thought that flat fender TJ's look mean, especially when you leave the flares on and cut the flar too.

The turn signal will look alot better in the grill. Search on pirate for some of the guys that did tube fenders on their TJs and moved the lights to the grill. Looks alot better than putting it on the fender.

i think you need some bow marker lights from a boat on top of the flat fenders

I vote tube fenders or no fenders would looks best, and I agree on the marker lights being moved to the grill.

Tube fenders look good, sawzall hacked doesn't. Either way looks pretty weird with only 33s anyways..but hell, who cares what it looks like. Hack away!

at work we're going to be selling some tube fenders for the TJ soon. Honestly I also think the flatfender TJ's look like ass. We had one on the lot that we haven't been able to sell for about 4 months now, but today they pulled it in back and bolted up a normal front clip so it will sell.

So, its unanimous, you are only allowed to mess with your fenders if you tube them. Period.

They don't look too bad on the bigger trail rigs but not to sexay on the smaller jeeps, to each his own...it’s your jeep. If you do it though take your time and cut a little less than you want. Go back with an angle grinder to smooth everything out and get it to where you want it. When I cut my front and rear open I used masking tape but the sawzall just tore it off. Just mark on the body with a black sharpie.
Its going to be allot easier to mangle up your fenders once you cut them since that outer lip gives them allot of support, that’s why I'm eventually going to do tube fenders up front.

I think I am just going to wait untill I have the time to tube them, so that I can cut them to match the tube. While sitting in traffic today, I decided that on my jeep, that flatfenders would just look like a hack job, while tube would look much more profesional

im with the frick on this one... keep the fenders trim as little off as possible... it looks bad to have little tires and too much room not filled up with tire

AggieTJ2007

I agree on that one, I am looking for a solution besides more bumstop to keep my front tires from rubbing when I flex. I think I am just going to take a grinder to the seam inside the fender tht they rub on.

Like mine with the chopped fenders and 35s. They wouldn't have been chopped off so fast but the recovery after laying it over was a little harsh :D

You stay out of this. You've got enough work of your own to do right now anywho.

ive decided to stay away from the tube fenders untill mine are completely trashed and I can make some combletely tube fenders, like the Poison SPyder ones so that they will cover the tires somewhat like the fender flares do, I am just going to trim the seam that they tires rub on and add some bumpstop if needed

uglyota

beat the seam down instead of trimming it, if you can. Seams hold things together
