it's not really been talked about much here. though, i did get my fill of entertainment by reading the searched forums on "snorkel." ...especially the one with scott, austin, and landon back in april of '02 to lanno, tx.

i'm wanting to build one like the old hummers. there's no where else to stick the tubing out except the hood (i've got ideas for that). however, where to mount the air cleaner. there isn't much room in my engine compartent, so i want to mount the air cleaner at the end of the snorkel. but it will need to be covered from water and debree.

1) i don't know where a good place everyone already knows about to shop for the cap (i really don't want to go through a dealer or the like). does anyone know of a good site to find these parts seperately. because there's no kit made specifically for my bronco. and God knows it'll be cheaper to build it myself except for the things i can't fab.

2) how do you mount whatever bracket you'll be using that adapts to the snorkel tubing to the sheet metal w/out just using elmers glue. it needs to hold good in case a tree or rock tries to take the snorkel away from me.

not sure if anyone knew about this product. on the pricey side. but does the job as far as fit and function http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/knn-85-1060.jpg summit pn# KNN-85-1060 for about $182. you can get the flex tubing in any diameter at home depot for cheap. but it's the mounting flanges that are giving me trouble.

I assume you're thinking of some kind of flange that presses against your hood to seal to the air cleaner outside...think this will seal as your body and frame (motor) are flexing against each other?
you could run that $180 thing to a sealed airbox which houses a filter, the airbox getting its air through a hole in your fender going out to your dorkel :flipoff2:
