An engine for a 1997 Ford F-150. My friends threw a rod and they dealership wont even buy it for parts. So I think I'm gonna grab it up and use it for my business for my guys in the fall. That way I can take my 250 to school with me. Shes got a v6 in there, anyone got anything for me? I'm sure the computer is good on it, and its got 90,000 miles on it, (or did I guess).

Anyone got anything for me? Auto tranny too.

Well it had a 4.2L in there. I guess I could upgrade to a Triton v8, but then I'd have to buy a ton of crap for it to move to that engine. I was gonna just reuse everything on her old engine. My buddy has the 4.2 in one of his trucks and it pulls his trailer (his is bigger than mine). I just need a solution for when I'm gone to school.

Honestly, did you expect one of us to just have a 1997 Ford POS V6 laying around somewhere?

just got one last night. More than I wanted to spend, but 500$ for the short block, and hes throwing in every extra part for a 97 f150 hes got. 45 mins north west of bcs.

My bad I suppose. I guess I'm the only one that doesn't walk around junkyards looking for ****ty motors.

Hmm...a shortblock? So you're going to spend the time to swap the old heads and intake onto a junkyard shortblock? If he's throwing every extra part for a 97 he's got, why don't you get the whole engine instead of being uber-jew and buying just a shortblock out of the boneyard.

Have you ever had the heads checked for cracks? Why did the motor blow up to begin with? The problem with my motor was in the bottom end, but the heads had small cracks in them to around the valve seats from overheating i presume.

jwingfield2k

the problem with the existing engine is that it threw a rod and goes clunk clunk clunk. One head from the engine I am buying is bad, so most stuff will come with the new engine i'm getting from this guy, but its not complete i guess. short block was the wrong term to use I guess.

Anyone got an cherry picker I can use for a day to drop this thing in there with?

make sure you get the manual for that truck so you know the tightening order and torque specs for heads, intake, etc.

yes, and remember, there's a good reason not to buy a ford product.

is the head from the side that threw the rod still good? usually the piston slaps the valves and trashes them.

im thinking its bad, but the engine im buying has a good head on it. so ive got two good ones. if need be, i can buy one for a little over 100 on ebay, no biggy

seems like a waste of time and money. I picked up a running 97 3/4 Chebby of ebay for 2700, bet you'll dump that much into this project.

damn guys.

Let him run with what he's got. it probably would have been nice to give him some input BEFORE he bought the engine?

well, as you know, wingfield suffers from Autism's kissing cousin known as Chadnutsism. No matter what anybody says, he's doing what he wants and thinks is right. Let's just stay out of it and watch the show.

Jumping into a second project before the first one is complete is by far the best way to never finish both. I nominate Wingnut for the "Most likely to never see the trail" Award for 05-?

Jerry thinks hes a comedian...

Anyways, ya Jeff if you will already be home before the engine swap please bring it on up to CS, that way I don't have to go and buy one. William, this thing doesnt move by itself, so it's gonna be at my house on Harvey Mitchell, sorry bud. Her house doesnt even have a garage.

Oh it's a 1998, the girl told me it was a 97, but the Title and all the Registration stuff says 98. Guess I got a little better deal that I thought.
