DOM: I need it [Archive]

Apparently it can not be found in B/CS. At Mack Steel, they have 1.25 .25 wall tubing, but it is not DOM. What is it and why can I not use it?

If I order it online from some fab website, can they ship it to me. Or where can I get it in Houston?

ANy suggestions on where to find it? I need about 8-10ft.

nobody is really going to want to sell you that small of an amount. Expect to pay more for ordering only 8-10 ft. One place that will and ship it to you is Metal Supermarkets. They've got one in Dallas I know. www.metalsupermarkets.com

At mack they sell HREW. There is really nothing wrong with this type of tubing. It is not quite as strong as DOM, because it has a welded seam. But this is not exactly NASCAR either. If you just need a short amount to make a few braces, I think this would be fine. If you're looking to build an entire cage, this would still be ok, but most everyone leans toward DOM.

i am assuming you are doing steering... i have 8 foot sitting in my garage but since i need it to do mine eventually i wont be giving it away at the 8$ a foot price i got it for... it is probably WAY more than that now anyways... i dont even want to know

i got my DOM from Poision spyder, they shipped me 10 ft and i think its still 6 somethin a foot, 1.5" .250 wall is what i got.

and theyl ship in 6 ft sections thats all ups will let them.

Metal Supermarket in Houston can get it next day, and it is $10 a ft. They are closed on weekends, and I won't be going back soon, so I jsut ordered it from PSC at $6.85/ft, and $30 shipping. I got 2 6ft lengths

Well, I never said they would be the cheapest, but they can get it in short lengths.
