So it's been dry for a week or so. Anybody interested in checking out the place on 47 on sunday? Who should I talk to to see if they are even open?

I may be up to a quick run out there next weekend. I've got a lot of work to finish up on the buggy, but I hope it should be finished and repainted before next saturday or sunday. It would give me a good chance for a little shake down run to test out a few of the things I've done

Nope, in one ear and out the other, kinda like when my mom always yelled at me when I was a kid :flipoff2:

Actually, I just want a chance to get out and play with the buggy a little, it doesn't have to be hard, I just want to screw around a little.

That was great fun!
Owner of the place is really nice, there are some really fun trails cut in there, awesome place for a day trip (or night, hopefully someday).
Definitely bringing a lot of water next time, and I bet the entire place changes with a little rain!
Hopefully Chris' friend (Terry?) got some good pics...

Great fun guys & thanks for the help maneuvering out of that mess. Kerry got some great pics and he was stoked, despite the issues.

Amazingly, I had no major breakage, but here is my list of fun crap I have to do now.

Check all tires for leaks (I totally blew one bead and had to reseat it, flatted another, and lost a bunch of air from a third).
Get shorter pitman arm (remind me where to buy this, Eric)
Set Steering stops
Check PS pump/gearbox for issues
Repair diff breathers munched by tires that turn too far.
adda tranny so I don't splooge everywhere when I am on my side.
Find my damn hitch pin
allignment

uglyota
08-22-2005, 02:28 PM
tires leaked cuz they were sideloaded with 8psi fighting 10000 pounds of bastard Toyota :flipoff2: when you hear air blowing out you gotta get the tire out of that position, or rebead when you get out. Maybe run 10 pounds next time
OTT industries should have your pitman arm. Hopefully that uncrosses your tr/dl
we'll beat your steering stops out and weld them up so they don't bend in anymore.
no $$$ breaks=major improvement! Woohoo!

I understand about the debeading and tried to act quickly to move when I heard each leak. What is odd to me is that I have never had issues before and usually air down to 8psi. The fact that I had issues with 3 tires on one day, when I have gone years without a problem, raises a flag. Of course, my truck has seen more wheeling in the last 6-12 months than it has since I bought it in 97. :D

This one?
http://www.ottindustries.com/flatpitman.htm
It doesn't look like it is any shorter, just flat.

uglyota
08-22-2005, 02:44 PM
I think you'll have to call them and tell them exactly what you need. I think inchworm gear sells OTT stuff as well. Also you'll have to look at your truck and make sure a flat arm won't hit your frame if you just bolt it on. It probably will. If ott can't help you I'd call Marlin. You don't wanna have to rotate your steering box.

dude you were teetering on those two RH wheels. You probably would have pulled the beads loose at 30psi :D

uglyota
08-23-2005, 11:23 AM
thanks Chris send them on and I'll get them up.
Do you have an album in member's rigs? It resizes them as it's uploading. Doesn't take much time at all.
Matt it's an old quarry west of Hwy 47 about 5 miles north of University. about ten minutes from campus.

8Runner
08-23-2005, 02:49 PM
Ok, so I've spent 5 min or so trying to get the uploader working in members rigs and I'm out of time for today. About half of them uploaded and then it hung. I keep trying to upload the other half & it keeps hanging. I dunno - looks like a cool app though.

we'll have to do some testing...are you sure your new place doesn't need an RTI ramp? Davido's is built-in!
I imagine the leaf is both too thick (for the unsprung weight to pull it down) and has lost it's arch since it was installed.

8Runner
08-23-2005, 03:45 PM
I just thought of something else, all the weight of the wheel & axle is not pulling down in that pic as it's resting on the right wheel. Yes some testing is in order. I'll just ramp the eclipse (shhh, don't tell Hayley).

CRaSHnBuRN
08-24-2005, 05:21 AM
so, what exactly is out there? Most of the pics seem to be of that little path going down the hill. Surely there is more, right? Are you allowed to go where you want, or do you got to stick to those dirt roads?

CRaSHnBuRN
08-24-2005, 05:30 AM

RCcola55

the reason the only pictures are of that one decline are because chris' friend was taking the pictures and we ended up spending a good 2 hours helping chris down the hill and they decided to leave after that. there is a lot more to offer then what it may seem, a lot of hills with some steep inclines/declines and some pretty good off camber stuff, no rocks, i dont think it would be a very good time if it got any rain out there it would defently increas the diffulty to almost impossible. U can go all over the ranch there are trails everywhere and guys from differnt clubs are out all the time cutting new one and lenghting the old. it not bad for being so close , a good place for new guys to test their limits and a place to have a good time with out spending a lot on gas

CRaSHnBuRN
08-24-2005, 11:36 PM
well eric was mentioning going out there for thier meet and greet on sunday. My buggy is almost done, but I still need to repaint and reassemble it, so it won't be ready by then. Does anyone know if they're basically open every weekend? If so I'm gonna go out there one day over the labor day weekend if anyone else wants to go.

uglyota
08-26-2005, 09:31 AM
from what I understand you can only go with a club, and with someone whose familiar with the place. Not too hard to organize though, get a group of Tamorites together and call the guy and he'll find someone to wheel with you as long as you each have $10 for him.

mudtoy67
08-26-2005, 06:44 PM
Tx4wd is having a meeting out there this sunday at 2:00. I imagine there will be some wheeling afterward. Jim Taylor (super rockranger) resigned as pres of the club so they're going to elect another pres. Be a good chance to get some contact info so yall know who to call when you want to go out there.

CRaSHnBuRN
08-29-2005, 02:26 PM
Well Eric, Austin and me went out there to do a little wheeling sunday. I gotta admit, I was really surprised. This place has some decent wheeling, and a lot of potential. And if you like ass puckering hill climbs and big drop offs, this is the place for you. I didn't take my buggy out there, but rode with ugly instead. Austin brought his new tacoma, and it was a blast watching him flog it. I took some pics, but most of them kinda sucked (to much foliage in the way), but eric has some decent ones. All in all it will be a fun local place to play

that was the single most positive wheeling experience I've had. We had stockers and not so stockers and we all wheeled together, had a great time, encouraged each other and congratulated each other the whole time, then held hands and sang kumbayah afterwards. Just kidding, but only about the hand-holding and kumbayah part. It was great fun, again!

actually not to step on anyones toes, but I think a club trip to 47 would be a better idea. I think it would attract a bigger crowd, especially new people who don't anyone.

Which would you rather do? Go on a 3 hour trip with no one you know, or drive 20 minutes and if something happens or you don't like the people you can be home shortly.

Also, with the price of gas, I bet 47 would attract more people.
