One of my buddies just got a 76 blazer. What tcase-205 right? Main question: on the shifter it reads
High lock
High
Neutral
low
low lock

What does all that mean
Its a full time 4x4 with auto hubs

It's the same as the ford. NP203. the loc selections are for locking the front to rear. Does it really have auto hubs or are they just a flat cap where the locking hub should be?

so im gathering that putting it in loc is the same as getting out and locking the hubs??? correct flat caps.

i thought lock meant 50-50 split of power front and rear, where as the usual is 20-80 f/r.

No, unless someone has previously installed a part time kit, the hubs are always engaged. There is always at least some power going to the front axle. Picture a locking differential in your axle, if it's open one wheel will spin easier than the other. If it's locked both wheels spin together. Now take that differential, and put it in the tcase between the front and rear axles. It uses the same principle, with the numbers that Jerry posted above.

ok that makes some sense. I knew it had something to do with more power in certain gears.

203s are freaking heavy and the shifters suck on them. Does anyone know how to twin stick one?

Yep, put a 205 behind it. 203 is non-twin-stickable.

Not true. I believe ORD is working on or has already done a twin stick for a 203. I dont know what it accomplishes but on the 203 range box I got for free there are 2 shifting arms and they are at different positions. 203's are turds anyway, they are insanely heavy and excessively long. The only thing they are good for is using the chain housing for a tarp weight and the range box for a doubler.

well if I can't twin stick it, I am going to need to find a new shifter too, or a 205 if anyone has a cheap one they want to get rid of

You're bustin my balls here Jeff.

NP203 twin stick shifters: $170
That's right, we can twin stick the 203! You get rid of the trouble prone and typically worn out factory shifter box and replace it with 2 levers for much more positive gear selection. One lever will shift the case through Hi-N-Lo and the other will control the differential lock, or on cases converted to part time, the other lever will control 2wd-4wd. This shifter can also be converted to a Doubler shifter with a simple linkage change. Available for GM, Ford and Dodge.

Doublers are like $700 plus the cost of rebuilding cases and then another $2-300 for shifters unless u fab your own. You gotta pay to play.

OK so you get 2 shifters to do the job of one.

I'll be at Jr's shop this weekend. I'll rummage through the FJ one more time to see if I can't find that sneaky shifter.
