This is true, and I might, I just like to start off statements by saying, "As a season ticket holder..." It makes me feel important. :gigem:

If I have my pitman arm fixed by then and can afford the fuel to get there I will.

[Chadnutz Math]
1000 miles
10 mpg
100 gallons
2.69/gallon
$269 in fuel.
:(
[/Chadnutz Math]

Probably have to drive 65 instead of 75. :flipoff2:

Oh ****, I need to find a trailer.

CRaSHnBuRN
09-07-2005, 12:13 PM
damn, you only get 10mpg? What size trailer are you using? I pulled to TCC with a low boy trailer and the buggy behind the taco, and still got better than 16 mpg both ways

AggieTJ2007
09-07-2005, 12:31 PM

are you sure your math is correct, not doubtin' ya, but that sounds a little far fetched for a taco and all the hills on the way there?

regear it and most of your mileage will come back, mine and my little brothers both improved a considerable amount going from 3.55 to 4.56.

AggieTJ2007

We've towed my heavy ass cruiser with my moms 4runner and I can't remember the exact mpg but it was atleast 16. Thats with all the hills back home too. The toy v6 is a impressive little motor.

tigweld
09-07-2005, 01:41 PM
I think both of you should check your math and total mileage for these trips, unless both of you drive 55mph

Chadnutz
09-07-2005, 02:30 PM
I've towed ~12k at 65 and got around 10-11.
I've towed ~5k at 75 and got around 10-11.

Maybe I should stick to 65, but it would save me 1 hour each way to do 75 and would only cost me ~$45 extra. 65 it is!

CRaSHnBuRN
09-07-2005, 02:57 PM
No, I figured it right. I was shocked. I checked it going to and from TCC, as well as the day I brought the buggy up to my new house in CS. Now granted, I keep it around 60-65, and it drops down to 55 on the big hills, but what do you expect, its not exactly a towing beast. There were areas i could go faster, but I'm not gonna take my chances with that much weight back there. The truck is a bone stock 05 taco, so its quite a bit bigger than the previous tacos, which helps alot. Plus my buggy is light, and most likely creates little drag compared to a normal vehicle (sits low and lets the air flow through). Hell, even if my math is completely wrong, just estimating the distance up there and the when I filled up, my tank size, and I can still gaurentee i did better than 12mpg.

tigweld
09-07-2005, 03:22 PM
12 sounds allot more reasonable

CRaSHnBuRN
09-07-2005, 04:36 PM
Perhaps, but I still say I got 16mpg, I just don't have the reciepts to prove it anymore. The comment I made about getting better than 12 was more in relation to what nutz was saying about his mileage.

I thought the toilet kissing was during the December Clayton trip?

I'd like to make this one, but I have a run with the binder guys the weekend before and depending on how much crap I tear up, I may or may not make it to this trip. Either way, I'm definitely in for the December trip.

Ok, lets fire up this discussion again. Early Registration ends on the 23rd and saves $15. They are limiting entrants as well. Who is planning on going? Where do you want to stay? What day do you want to head up?

I am thinking of heading up Thursday night after work so that we can be ready to roll for the afternoon Trail runs on Friday. I am game for camping or hotel - whichever the group does. Which hotel did we stay at last time, with pedophilic (sp?) manager? That place was entertaining, to say the least.

well looks like no one is going, guess ill be staying back too... man this club has changed. this use to be like the "deal"

davido
10-10-2005, 12:30 PM
Not necessarily a bad thing. It's a combination of timing and evolution of the club. We use to hit all of these because we didn't know our way around up there, so it was helpful to be with larger groups for support and guidance. Now we have so many people in the club with extensive knowledge of the area and wheeling in general. Plus we pretty much have our own support system (with more capable rigs than in the past). I think that is why people look forward to events where it's just TAMOR folks more now. For us older guys, it's one of the few times a year that we all wheel together. Thus the popularity of the end of the semester trip. To add to that people are wheeling more often at closer locations so there's not as much build-up for those big events. It is also just bad timing with it being a home game weekend and gas prices being the worse we've ever seen.

Fredo

I think we pretty much proved that this weekend when on one obstacle Grayson broke, St.John almost flipped, and you broke and we barely had any down time. I mean, most people would have been standing around going...hmm, what to do now, but instead we just handled the situation smoothly and safely and got everyone out as quick as possible. After that was over I realized how well we all work together when wheeling.

AggieTJ2007
10-10-2005, 01:37 PM
I would agree w/ DavidO, I really perfer to wheel with just TAMOR groups instead of the giant groups you get at these events, you spend alot of time just waiting

J Cooper

who the **** is alex estep by the way?

alex was a member of the club back in 99-00. he was supposed to lead us on a trip to huntsville, but was arrested the night before. he towed a guy named mark(blue cj) to clayton in october 99. additionally, me and davido were riding with alex and mark. i will let davido expand on his adventures in marks CJ the first day there... :D :D . anyway, back to the story, this would turn out to be an eventful trip. on the way there, everyone decides that driving 90mph, whether towing a vehicle or not, would be a great idea. lemme tell you, at 90mph a suburban gets a bit squirrely when towing a jeep. anyway, we make it to dallas without event. just north of dallas, in mckinney, as were driving down the road, the suburban swerves back and forth. in the calmest voice ive ever heard in a hairy situation, alax says "ohh, there goes the wheel bearing..." we pull over into some commercial business parking lot so that we could get the front wheel bearing changed. it was probably 11 or 12 at night so there wasnt any parts houses open. what would we do? the group didnt want to camp in a parking lot til morning. no worries "this happens all the time. i got spares..." hmmmm, ok. so time to disassemble. now, since we were hauling ass down the highway when it let go, the wheel bearing race friction welded it self to the spindle. so after an hour or so of beating on it and breaking a few cold chisels, we got it off and replaced. the rest of the trip was uneventful until we arrived. once there, alex decided he needed to wheel his tow vehicle(91 suburban).

this is a prime example of why you shouldnt wheel your tow vehicle. he had tried the first part of three stage twice with no success. so, alex and mark get drunk on saturday night and decide that it would be a good idea to go try three stage one more time. i mean hell, "third times a charm right?" well things didnt go exactly as planned. he got the front tires over the ledge and pulled up til his rear tires were at the ledge. he tried and tried and tried, but to no avail. so in one last attempt, he gets happy with the skinny pedal. this is where things get ugly. the rear end starts bouncing and bounces all the way over to the wall on the driver-side. the truck slams into the wall, caving in his drivers rear panel and best of all, ripping the drive-shaft out of the transfer case. now alex is left with only front wheel drive and tranny/t-case fluid puking from the rear output shaft of the t-case. no-one is told of his escapade until sunday morning after the club challenge(which schubring won by the way). we had to come up with a plan to get the jeep, trailer, the suburban, and the four guys that rode in the subruban back to CS. our solution was to have troy tow the 16ft trailer with his TJ, Mark(not shipman) drive his CJ, davido would ride with burbach(well i should say sleep in the car while burbach drove :flipoff2: ), and alex and i would drive the burban home in front wheel drive. so we leave and when we get to the first gas station, we notice that fluid is still leaking from the t-case. we devised a plan to put a thick plastic bag over the end of the output, a condom if you will. the ride home was long to say the least. suburbans dont like driving 70 in front wheel drive. its not very fun towing a 16ft trailer with a TJ. and its not very fun to drive a CJ 8 hours in cold ass rain when all you have is a bikini top.

only seen alex one more time after this event. that was when doug picked a fight with him at some party. im pretty sure i have a picture or two of said suburban and alax. ill find them and post em.

I wouldn't say that Doug picked a fight with Alex. Now, knowing Doug if I wasn't there I would most certainly say that he picked a fight.

We were at one of Dirty John's parties and Alex's girlfriend starts talking to some other guy or something. Well, we head over to Alex's friend's house after the party only because he was in TAMOR or at one point was in TAMOR. I don't know who we followed, but I think it was Alex's girlfriend and her friend. Well, I was joking around with this guy and I "put my dukes up" because he kept going on an on about wanting to kick this guy's ass. Well, apparently Alex is one of those beligerent types that doesn't know that a friend with a smile on his face and his fists in the air is generally NOT a threat. I pretended to hit him (in total slow motion) but never touched him. Well he then returned the favor except a little harder than any play fight would normally see. It didn't hurt, so to speak, but I realized that he wasn't ****ing around. He genuinely wanted to fight me now. Well Doug tells Alex to chill out because I was only ****ing with him, but Alex the hard ass doesn't want to hear it. At this point he has his mind set on taking out his frustration on anyone that is smaller that him. Well, Doug happened to be the easiest target. He gave Doug three seconds to shut up, but those of you that know Doug could easily guess that he didn't shut up. He wasn't talking ****, but merely asking Alex to relax. Well Alex then laid into Doug's head beating the **** out of it while Doug held himself up by someone's grille guard. We pulled Alex off of Doug as fast as we could, but he had already taken a good beating. He was OK, and Alex and his friend went for a walk so he could cool off. It was decided that we should leave so we did.

Total ass hole in my book. In driving away I wished that I had returned the favor but it was him and his friends place and I was only with Doug and maybe one other TAMOR member....

And now you know.... the rest of the story.

Mark. I don't even remember exactly what happened but I vaguely remember talking him out of killing himself in a not-so-subtle tone. I think it was something stupid like using an arm or leg to stop it from rolling.

Russ made it up! (His rig doesn't look like that for nothing)

We ran some new trails that were pretty fun: Green Mamba, Cakewalk, Ledges...I can't remember all the names (any help Cody?)

We cleaned up in the raffle!

Cody and I (Meghan) each won twice, Cody got Nuts and a T-shirt and I won free registration to Superlift at the Mountains, and an auto vacuum, which Matt says I can use to clean the Jeep.

Thanks, Jimmy!
